Truegold, why is it so dam high priced?

I hate how blizzard requires this in so many items we can make. Its selling for 800-1100g a bar on my server. Now these new Blacksmith plans for weapons require 8 of them for each weapon.
Why are they so high priced? Whats the mats an profession to make them?

On another note however I am sure it will take awhile to farm enough chaos orbs for my BS anyways so the TG isnt the only grind here.
Just Remember some of us dont know it all so please be easy on us!

They are high price because of the mat they required as well as the cool down required to make, so the amount of TG available a day is the amount of Alchemist that use their transmute for TG, and is limited.

I always assumed it was due to people only being able to transumte it once per day.
Well, that and because it's used quite heavily in Leatherworking, Blacksmithing and Tailoring.

Right now the materials to transmute a truegold bar are outrageous on most servers to purchase. I personally farm my own mats for each cooldown, so it does not cost me anything. That being said the price being driven back up is really nice for those that are lucky enough to not care about any of the new patterns. Parting with my truegold for 100g a bar was starting to really break my heart. Same with chaos orbs. They were going for less than 200g each and now people are paying 1000g each minimum.

@ OP, Wish it was that high on my server, 300-500g altough recipes have only just started appearing.Been stockpiling those I make for weeks, would love to sell at 1k each.
Some mornings it's hardly worth chewing through the restraints.

Materials for Truegold can be seen here: http://www.wowhead.com/item=58480/truegold .
The materials are not cheap, but what really adds to the value is the 1 day cooldown people have mentioned here, which leads Truegold being very limited. It takes 8 days to craft the weapon you mentioned with the materials produced by one alchemist (less if he is a transmute master and very lucky). That long time to wait just to craft a weapon increases the value because, as we all know, time is money.

There have been threads on here since the recipes were announced, of people making and stockpiling truegold for at least 3-4 weeks now, some people have probably been stockpiling a lot longer.

The prices are high, because people are making a large amount of profit now as the truegold is in demand.

Wise people stock up on what's going to be needed the most and then make a killing off people who did not prepare in advance.

It works like this for pretty much everything!

It pays to think ahead... literally.

It's priced high due to something called Supply & Demand (as per link piosted above).

Limited supply and high demand makes prices go up. Large supply and low demand means prices go low.

So as we are now getting the new pattens from the Molten Front, demand has increased, supply has not, ergo sellers can demand a higher price for their goods.

That's why I have stockpiled pyrite for 3 months now. Pyrite will also has it's price climb up when will have epic gems are being prospect from it.

That's why you should farm a lot before a major patch. Is it for bs, lw or jc, prices will go up on ores.

it wont, it will only drop, stop living in your bubble.

so many people are botting now, it aint even funny no more, you can spot em on the ah, so easy.

Ores/ herbs / volatiles...dropping like flies ... dont be funny... nothing will climb no more.

Economy is dropping hard, maybe thats why blizzards is taking honorbuddy to court now. They cant find em or stop em.

Yes this is simple economics. Both supply and demand have increased but not proportionality as demand has gone up way more than supply has so prices go up even though there is more supply. Demand will eventually come down and when it does prices will fall.

Should have purchased them before 4.2 if you needed them for the new patterns. Mats are pretty cheap, but the CD is what you're really paying for. You can find people selling their CD for 150g average, so it's not that much. Find an xmute specialist and maybe get lucky.

It's a server issue. The price you are giving was top at my server at the begining of Cata. Now Truegolds sell for 250-400g most often oscilating around 300g.

Anyway, I would just look for alchemists. Many are unaware how much gold they can make from it on AH and usually quite kindly sell a trasnmute with 50-100g for the service.

It's high priced because people are willing to pay high prices, because of how useful Truegold is, as well as it's somewhat limited quantity.

A little off topic, but your statement is false. Everything you spend time doing incorporates opportunity cost into whatever the end result is. If, for example, you spend any amount of time farming the mats for truegold, but the mats sell for more than the bars, you will run into a opportunity cost deficit and in effect lose money. The opposite also holds true if the mats sell for less than the end product, you will have overcome the opportunity cost of the mats and made a profit.

Just a side note because I see a lot of people who are trying to make money forgetting about this and missing out on potential revenue.
