Yep, remember old aol, remember downloading the new version of aol's over 33.6k(oh man) and it taking days to download what will now take a few minutes.

I remember paying for my own dedicated phone line to have 56k on the home computer since I was the only one that really used it all that much

My first networking experience (not actual internet) were the local BBSs (Bulletin Board Systems, for the young 'uns). Oh, how I miss L.O.R.D. (Legend of the Red Dragon) and BRE (Barren Realms Elite). So much fun!

After that was a series of hopping between CompuServe and AOL, milking them for free months. I really have no idea how AOL ever made money. Every time I tried to cancel, I got 2 free months, even when I was canceling after the 2 free months.

I remember being incredibly impressed with my internet connection when it reached the point where I could listen to a song as it was downloading and by the time the song was finished, the download would be done.

I remember playing WoW on dial-up. It took us awhile to switch to broadband.

I remember being told that Ultima Online was AMAZING. I almost got into it, but my install was broken.

I remember using Telnet to connect to MUDs, and being excited when I found the local blink option.

My first encounter with the internet was in elementary school, when I found a picture of an AT-ST and thought it was the COOLEST, I wrote down the address to the picture so I could find it again.

First thing I did when I got my 56k was play Delta Force 2 online. And thats all i did on the internet for at least 2 years (maybe some AoE online too). Would play it for hours every night (could only go online after 6pm when it was free to use) until someone picked up the phone.
Win95 with Netscape Navigator browser. Back in the days of when you had a homework assignment you would ask your dad, or look on Encarta encyclopedia. Now its straight to google/wikipedia/answers.com.

I was almost 14 when I got my own connection. 256kbps, dial up
Logged on, created an email address because, well, who doesn't have one?

... and then I went wild on porn. I barely left my room for the next week. God it was sticky.
