    Mobo PCI Clarification

So I was looking over the specs of a mother board I was looking into and it said this in the details section:

    "PCI Express 2.0 x16:

    2 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots (single at x16 or dual at x8 / x8 mode)
1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot* [black] (max. at x4 mode, compatible with PCIe x1 and x4 devices)"

    This board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-131-730&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=5&VideoOnlyMark=Fal se&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=4#scrollFullInfo

Does this mean that if I were to SLI it would only run the cards at x8 and that the black PCI-E can only be run at x4 (meaning it is meant to run older items)?

    Thanks

ya if you sli etc it will run the cards at x8 x8, you can get a board that does x16 x16 but they are normally very expensive and you wont notice the diff between 16 vs 8 really
    CM 690II Advanced / Lamptron FC-6 / Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 / G Skill Sniper Series (2x4)8GB 1.25V DDR3 1600 / CM Hyper 212+ / I5 2500k stock / 2x MSI HD 6950 2GB ( Reference / Stock ) Crossfire / Corsair TX850 V2 ES / Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 7200RPM / Sony CD/DVD / Windows 7
Overclocking almost done! 4.4 GHZ still working on it!! Wait.......where is all that smoke coming from?

Awesome thanks for the tip! Found a nice article on the Nvidia Forums agreeing with what you said. Turns out it's only around a 1.5-4% reduction versus x16!
