    New GPU

    Hello everyone.

I'm looking for a new graphics card.
At the moment I have a CLUB3D HD Radeon 4890.

When playing WoW and other games I have some fps lag. When I monitor my performance, my CPU rarely gets above 50-70%, and my 4GB of RAM should be enough too. So I think that it's my graphics card that's causing the frame rate drops.

I need a card that'll run GW2 and Elder Scrolls:Skyrim and next-game games like that on full or extreme settings.
My current card isn't exactly a silent one either, if there's one that's pretty quiet, then that'll be a great plus too.

About the budget...well, I know quality has a price..but try to keep it low.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Edit: Also, I have a 520W PSU. Should be enough aye?

Well a good mid - high range card would be a 560 ti http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127594 that is about $240 and will run "most" current games at max or ultra depending on the game. No one really knows what future games will bring, so no one knows how to arm themselves. Personally I would just open the wallet and get a GTX 580 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127589 this one is the lightning OC version for $600 or you can get the normal version for about $500 or so. The 580 is pretty much the best single GPU you can currently buy. So in theory it will tackle most upcoming games at max and maybe future games at high etc etc

EDIT: The 560 ti should run most upcoming games as well, depending on how far out it will most likely be on high or med high depending on the game itself and how graphic intense. Current games though you will have no problems what so ever really with the 560 ti.

EDIT: With your power supply you should be fine adding the 560ti, if you decide on a more powerful one like the 580, you may want to get one that is a little more powerful for the 580.

You also want to make sure your processor is not ancient as well so it does not bottleneck the GPU.

    Thanks for the reply.
If I get the 580, what kind of PSU will I need? How many Watts?

And my CPU is a AMD Phenom II x4 965 ( 3,4 GHZ)

Don't exactly know how the 4890 compares to the 4870x2 (I had that one for 2 years) But the latter is about as good as the 560ti/6950, but lacks DX11. So I'd suggest getting that or 570/6970. If you have the money you could go all out and get a 580. If you want to play games like BF3 and Skyrim om ultra setting you'll want one of those, but for WoW the 4890 should be more than enough.
WoW is a CPU intensive game, so would you please post your specs. (CPU not reaching 100% load doesn't automatically mean it's not the bottleneck.)

CPU? Resolution? Graphics settings? In-game location?

Why are people always so vague when asking this question and leave so much information missing?

Well you say you have a little bit of a budget and I would definitely get a new PSU; Recently I bought a new power supply, http://ncix.com/products/?sku=58494&...y&promoid=1304 which is amazing for the price. Although you may say its refurbished I couldn't care less... for 40$! The savings are insane and the power supply seems to be working quite well. I have had it for about a month now and I have had absolutely NO PROBLEMS. This is something that I truly recommend... for 40$ it could die in a few months and I wouldn't care in the slightest.

My current set up is a 460 1gb, phenom x6 1100T, 8gb ram and it runs amazingly.

You would want to get at least a 600watt or 650watt, I would probably go with the 650 watt and make sure you get a good quality one. Here

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139020 $90 $80 after MIR this is a corsair 80plus rated 650 watt, or you could go with another but this one will be good for you.

That's the reason I want a new GPU. Directx11 and playing the new games on full/ultra with decent fps.

As I said above, these are my specs:
    CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 965 ( 3,4 GHZ)
    GPU: Club3D HD Radeon 4890
    PSU: Coolermaster M520 Modular PSU
    RAM: Kingstond HyperX 4GB
    Motherboard:
    MSI 785G - E53

    See above.
Resolution 1900x1200. Graphic settings Ultra. In game location: Anywhere but inside an instance or raid.

Ya if you have the cash, buy the new psu, get a 580, make sure you have a nice monitor with a good resolution on it!!!!!! and game away. I do not have a 580 myself, I have a dual card setup that is a little more powerful then one and I can tell you, you will love it. I like looking up and seeing huge frame rates and when the shit hits the fan with tons of stuff going on and your screen is nice and fluid like watching a movie )P

If you go for the 580, in future games it will be your CPU holding you back (so I wouldnt promise any ultra settings)
and that is why there might not be much difference between 560Ti and 580 in your case, are you sure you wish to spend $400 more for few framerates?

If you are ready to spend $600 for upgrade, you would see better performance by buying new mobo and cpu + a nice card.

I'm quite certain it's not a graphics card problem. Turn off V-sync (vertical sync) lower your shadows to fair (unnoticeable in normal gameplay) and don't set your multisampling too high; your performance will skyrocket.

560 Ti consumes less power than a 4890.
Get a HD6950 if you want. It beats the 560 Ti and has similar power consumption to your current 4890.
