    Clarkdale Core i3s.

Bit of a stupid question, and I can't seem to find the answer for whatever reason today...

The Core i3 540... it's LGA1156. Will it work on a P55 board with a discrete GPU? For some reason I remember them only working on H55 boards.

Reason, I have a P55 board sitting around at work (the warranty return on my system's fried board actually) with some memory I can use to replace one of the garbage Pentium 4 boxes here.

Yeah they will work on a P55 with a discrete GPU.

    Example:

No they don't, their eyes won't see anything past 30 fps anyways!

They'll need the CPU overclocked if you run Folding@Home in the background silently for you while they play Solitaire
    Super casual.

The office actually is higher ambient temperature in the winter, due to our turbo AC that kicks in in June through October. :/

Also, I am considering saying screw the other office machines, and just sticking this in my Linux box here... and then I can overclock it! At least a little, since I don't have an aftermarket cooler lying around.

Edit: If I put a PCI Voodoo3 in it, does it make me cooler? xD

I use a P7P55D with an i3 550, overclocked to 4.2Ghz easily enough. To answer your question, yes.
