From the "sweet spot builds" in the sticky threads, if you do not need an operating system then you could upgrade the graphics card or processor as well. I would maybe take a look at these items at Micro center as well. The items listed are all from Newegg. You may be able to get some better deals at Micro center though on the processor and a few other items.

    $500 Build
    Case: Thermaltake V3 Black $39.99
    Power Supply: Antec EarthWatts EA-380D 380W $44.99
    Motherboard: AsRock H61M-VS $59.99
    Processor: Intel Core i3 2100 $124.99
    CPU Cooler: Stock - Free
    RAM: G.Skill 4GB (2x2GB) $34.99
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB $44.99
Optical Disc Drive: Sony Optiarc SATA DVD/CD Burner $19.99
Graphics Card: Galaxy GTS 450 $124.99
    Total: 519.92 USD
    CM 690II Advanced / Lamptron FC-6 / Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 / G Skill Sniper Series (2x4)8GB 1.25V DDR3 1600 / CM Hyper 212+ / I5 2500k stock / 2x MSI HD 6950 2GB ( Reference / Stock ) Crossfire / Corsair TX850 V2 ES / Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 7200RPM / Sony CD/DVD / Windows 7
Overclocking almost done! 4.4 GHZ still working on it!! Wait.......where is all that smoke coming from?

I'd swap the 450 with a 460, totally worth it. And recently it seems to be going on sale at most places. http://ncix.com/products/?sku=56969&vpn=GV-N460SE-1GI&manufacture=Gigabyte

Also get the Ocz 1000W b-stock power supply, http://ncix.com/products/?sku=58494&...y&promoid=1310 with rebate this guy is amazing, i have had mine for awhile and even though its refurbished it works AMAZINGLY 1000W at 40$!

Ya definitely check out some Micro center prices, just checked on the I3 it was only 99 dollars there instead of 125 dollars at new egg. You can actually get an I5 2500k from Micro center for 180 dollars which is a really good deal as well.

Ya I would agree with alla as well on the 460. The 460 is a great card for WoW gaming and is worth the price, I would finish checking all the prices though on the items at micro center first and see what kind of total you come up with. If it leaves you a fairly good amount of savings then you could maybe upgrade another item or two and stay within your budget.

Well he specifically stated he wanted it for wow, so there is no reason to get anything more then a GTX 460 because wow is not gpu hungry. That card will also run other games as well without any problems. He can not run ultra in Crysis Dx11 or anything, but he will be able to play all modern games at med-high graphic levels. Where as in wow he will be able to run Ultra settings.
