    Enthusiast level -1.

I might get back into the folding soon here, idk. With the impending possible blue screen+1 hour restart intervals coming up likely on the soon 5,000th hour on my SSD I am trying to preserve my hours for now until we get a firmware update.

So in the winter my bedroom gets too hot with the heater vent open and too cold with it closed... but I've found the solution... leave both the PCs in there folding
    (a 960T w/5 cores @3.7GHz + the GTX 460 in my audio workstation + a GTX550Ti in my HTPC/Media server)

    I can't imagine a 550 Ti will get too hot. O_o

Meanwhile my GTS250 at work chugs along, and this computer has 69 days uptime.

The Core2Duo E6300 I have sitting under a desk elsewhere in the office has been going for about 32 days now. I should get a GeForce card for it!

It does when it's stuffed into this case with a non-modular power supply (the GPU maxes out at around 75C...which heats up both HDD's to 45-50C )

    help server 2008

Hey all, just saw this today and I installed it on the server at work (small family business so im allowed to). we dont have a computer guy, but is there a way to keep FAH running? when i log off the administrator account it closes the program. Also, is it as simple as putting it in the startup menu so it loads if the computer ever gets turned off?

i dont thinkit will maintain that PPD, but it does seem to be out pacing my GPU's individually by a small margin, but not all of them combined, all together my 990x was capable of close to 90k PPD, hopefully with the new cores and extra cache this can break 100k

That is damn impressive Cyanotical! Nice!

With any luck I may start folding again soon here, especially since I won't be gaming much other than perhaps at these LAN parties my college's computer club holds.

Just out of curiosity, anyone else using AMD GPUs to fold with, how do you have your client(s) set up? Lately I've been trying to figure out a way to get more points out of my rig, but obviously the fact I'm using two AMD 6950's is holding me back a bit for folding (they're just not nearly as efficient at folding as Nvidia GPUs are)

...anyways... it seems I'm getting better PPD by only running SMP on 2 cores instead of all 4, and letting each GPU get it's own CPU core. I'm also experimenting with turning affinity locking on instead of leaving it off like it is by default. Instead of ~80% CPU core 10%/10% GPU cores in the task manager CPU usage... it's now 50/25/25 CPU/GPU/GPU... and if I'm doing the math right, I'm getting ~4-5K PPD more this way than I was. (I'm using the v7 client btw)

its not that they are not as efficient, its that amd support is through openCL, thats the problem, nvidia folding is using CUDA,

ok so i have a question for you guys. after about 1min of folding i start to hear a faint squeak/beep coming from my computer. sounds like from the mobo/gpu region but cannot tell. i fold on my gtx560 and 2500k @ 4.5GHz. my only concern is it would be a warning beep but i dont know where it would be comming from. using my fan controller i was able to eliminate all my case fans and gpu fans from the eqauation. so far i havent heard it before comming from my computer.

Also my temps while everything is folding are all under 60 C for all cores and GPU

    thought?

    my setup
    t started as a CM HAF 912
    i5 2500k OC @4.5ghz
    CM hyper 212 cooler
gigabyte OC gtx 560 core clock 2 915mhz
    WD caviar black 1tb
    nzxt senturl lx fan control
    8gb ddr3 1330
    msi p67a-c43 (b3)

yes but it is on for roughly one second and off for one second. and when the case is closed it can barely be heard over my case fans on medium rpms.
