There is a part in there that in fact says there will be parties of 4.

It seems 5+ may be too chaotic on the screen. It wasn't bad back in D2 days but the effects from spells are much prettier and bigger now.

Even with 4 people it will be a gigantic light show. But 4 is still manageable. I very rarely played D2 with more than 4 ppl, usually 3, so I'm not much affected by it anyway. I dare say it will be a limitation on occasion, but the pros probably outweigh the cons.

I played D3 at Blizzcon, and I have to confess that the 4-man groups felt about right. Even still, half the people were usually off-screen exploring different ways, and I can imagine it would be kind of difficult to get into the action with any more people.
