    Heroic Rhyolith 10 Tips.

Hey guys, Our guild is progressing into Heroic Rhyolith and although for a first night, we had several good attempts, but I would like to get some tips and thoughts on how to tackle this with our raid group. Please try to be specific as possible, such as each person's role (whether to steer, dps on fragments, spark, etc)

    Composition

    Tank - Warrior Tank

Healers - Holy Pally and Druid

    DPS---

    Shadow Priest
    Mage
    Hunter
    Frost DK
    Boomkin
    Rogue
    Fury Warrior

So there is our comp. Rogue and Fury warrior is on steering 100% of the time. Frost DK is also helping with the steering but he is primarily tanking/dpsing the fragments when they spawn.

Now the real question is...What should the other DPS'ers be doing ( Shadow Priest, Mage, Hunter, Boomkin) Should they be on legs? If so, on which legs? and how many people do you have for taking out the sparks and fragments?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have a strong tank and another class kill fragments and only have other dps switch off legs to kill sparks. We have 6 dps on legs, divided, with soft turners. For hard turns everybody switches. With that much DPS, we kill him at about 4:45, which aint bad. Got to push him to phase 2 before the 5 minute mark.

    Our setup is like

    Tank: Paladin
    Healers: Paladin/Shaman (or Druid/Shaman)
    Melee dpsers: DK and Warrior
Ranged: Priest, Warlock, Moonkin, Mage, Shaman

Melee are on the boss full time.
When Spark is up, all ranged nuke it, else the Shaman is on one leg and Mage is on the other. Mainly the Warlock aoe the fragments but Moonkin pops shrooms and the priest joins for some aoeing aswell. Else it's nuking the boss inbetween all the adds.

    Our comp is the following:

    Tank: Pally
    Heals: Pally/Druid
Dps: Shadow Priest x2, Boomkin, Arcane Mage, Hunter, Warrior x2

We found that dots don't affect steering on the boss, so we have our dot classes run full dots on both legs at all times. Additionally, Mind Flay acts like a dot, so we keep a spriest on the boss Mind Flaying whichever leg is most convenient. We have our other spriest + boomkin on adds full time, and the first spriest switches to help bring down Sparks whenever they spawn. One warrior is on each leg, and the hunter and mage are each on a leg. The warriors work out the steering between themselves and call it out while everyone else goes balls to the wall on the legs.

It took us a night to figure out the most effective dps split between the boss and adds, but once we got that under control and switched from 3-healing to 2-healing, it really wasn't too bad. Having 2 spriests is really nice, and I'd highly recommend having your priest healer go dps if possible (I know OP doesn't have access to 2 spriests, but for others who might be reading, it helps.) because of the fact that dots don't affect steering, having a spriest in each group helps quite a bit with healing (Vamp Embrace), you get a couple extra Divine Hymns & Hymns of Hope, and spriests have no problem surviving a messy stomp in p2 with Dispersion.

    Good luck!
