    Good Low-Watt PSU

I'm looking for a good, inexpensive PSU. (The Tradeoff being that it's low wattage.) Anything above 200W is acceptable.

I bought one a month ago for my dad's computer when his old psu died.

i prefer to build my low-watt builds at <100w psus
    What connectors are you needing?

Et c. I'm personally looking at expensive ones D: Like platinum fanless 400w ones.

Well, right now I have a Rosewill 400W picked out, which is exactly what I need. I'm looking for something lower priced, and lower watted? (Is that a word?)
    Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811163112
    Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157261
100W Processor with GPU enabled draws roughly 160W load. So I really can't get away with a 100W psu. 200W is perfect with room for the Fan, HDD, ODD, and possibly SSD.

    /shrug.
I have a i3-2xxx-series low watt version, 35w-TDP intended for my HTPC.
That or an E-350-system. They run low wattage. ^^

You can't get the draw from an i3-2100 down below 100W under load. Not physically possible. Either way, I'm looking for a PSU, not a new CPU/GPU.

    I'm sorry, where did I say i3-2100? :P
    I said i3-2xxx-series low watt version, like a http://ark.intel.com/products/54643/...ache-2_10-GHz)

as for PSU, anything will work. There are, sadly, not a lot of funding going into that, just in the higher ranges.
Low-watt PSUs are likely just stripped of parts and put in a generic gray box to save costs. Go with something rated after the 12v-rail whom preferably have low ripplevalues. 80+ never hurts.

It's going to serve as a family computer, more than likely, and a travel computer. /shrug
Rosewill's Stallion will have to work just fine. Need to research the case more though. ~.o

Wouldn't any random $40 PSU work fine? Seems that 450 is pretty common for cheaper PSUs so you don't need to look for around 200W unless power usage is your concern and not the maximum.

I mean, for what you want it for you don't need a highly efficient omfgbbq PSU.

It seems that most PSU's compromise watts for price, and I'd love to cut corners to make room for a small SSD. Since I don't expect much from the computer... Meh, the Stallion will work.

You'd be surprised how little a SSD draws in power. :P ~2w during load? Might be lower.
    Unless I misunderstand.

EDIT - or you mean cut pricewise for the SSD? You won't really need it, but it would speed it all up, giving the impression of a faster system :'D
10USD on family saving everything to C:\ anyway, not understanding why you shouldn't.
    Any budget PSU would work.
And congratulations on quadruple 3s in postcount.

From what I see on newegg at least, you can go from 200-650W on around $40.
Its when you start getting to the efficiency levels that the price goes up (as well as when you start hitting 750->*)

For what you want it for, any cheap shit PSU with a SATA port will work 100% no problems. I am currently running my current gaming rig on a standard 'comes with the case' PSU. I have (no my knowledge) had no PSU related problems, and I use it everyday for.....many hours.

I got an Antec Earthwatts 650w for around $55, more than I needed and decent enough of a price.
