I am usually a caster type for my main character (Mage/Wizard/Archmage) Because I am freakin magi!

I usually end up making at least 3 toons if there is a healer/tank/dps role in a game because they are very different experiences. But yea.. WOOOO MAGIC!

I usually tend to play classes that wear "Heavy Armor" or plate, because I like the look.

I tend to play the heavily armored classes, all the plate in wow, a solider in ME, although I do play casters in star wars and elder scrolls.

I alternate between warrior and rogue-ish classes. Any melee that doesn't use magic I'm fine with. I hate casters, I hate playing casters and I hate playing against them.

It's funny cause when I was playing Fable 1 I was dead set on just making my character all str and melee expert, no offensive spells, just the assassin's rush, berserk, and double strike. Then I realized on a second playthrough that Fable 1's casting and ranged just sucked ass and it was built around being a melee.

But yes, in WoW I mained an Arms warrior, and would tank if needed. In games like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles I played the role of the tank and sometimes the DPS when I played with friends. When I picked up RIFT and WAR I played Champion spec'd Warrior and Black Orc.

With upcoming games like GW2, TERA, and SWTOR I plan to play Warrior + Thief from GW2, Slayer or Warrior from TERA, and Smuggler from SWTOR(screw Jedi n' Siths).

I played a Bard, Necromancer and Druid in EQ.

I play a Warlock and a Druid in WoW, and if there was a class that played like Bard, I'd be all over it.

    I think I see a pattern =P

Edit: In Diku muds, I tended to play a necromancer or a druid as well.

Usually play a warrior and normally a tank type class.

While I used to heavily favour offensive casters, if I try a new game these days, I'd try for a jack-of-all-trades class if possible. That way I can experience both melee and casting to see what I prefer in that game. Ideally a class with healing too.

I'll probably never start off with a pure melee class, but am usually willing to try one once I'm more familiar with a game. Archer/gunner type classes usually don't interest me...

Though... in a game where you can't fully customize your character's looks, to me, playing a decent-looking character class comes first. =p If hypothetically my only choices were an ugly (by my standards) shaman/druid/red mage type, or a decent-looking gunner, I likely will lean towards the latter as my first choice. =P

I usually play a caster though in TES I was more a caster/hunter/melee hybrid.
It's the internet. You never know if people are either sarcastic or just bad.

I like support. Not healing, not damage.. Support!.. Bard in Rift is a perfect example.. If games doesn't have support I usually go for healing or the DPS class that sucks the most, just to prove I'm a good player and can keep up with the rest.

I play for challenge.. I don't play WoW..

Tbh it depends on playstyle , i am often bouncing between melee and casters

Always a tank. I was a prot warrior all of WoW and I'm going to be a juggernaut in SWTOR.

My only alt is always a healer.

Warrior Tank in vanilla/BC WoW, DK Tank from WotlK on, Riftstalker Rogue Tank for my 2onths of Rift, Staff Ice Tank for the 2months I played DCUO, so yes I have a bit of an archetype that I stick with. Tanking is what I enjoy doing, always have and always will.

Always tend to be melee in some form

I'm too impatient to fit into any ranged role, so of my 3 classes Paladin and rogue beats my hunter by a mile.

I'm not sure what role D3 daemonhunter falls into..if its ranged im prolly gonna be a barbarian

  15. #55
No, I play whatever I feel like playing. In WoW, my mains are a warlock and a warrior, and I have had no desire to make a hunter whatsoever. Yet in Guild Wars 1, my main and by FAR most played character was my ranger, and I'm really not a big fan of the warrior at all. In Diablo 2, my favorite class by far was paladin(I have something like 15 different lvl 85 paladins, all different builds), followed by sorceresses(7 lvl 85+, including a melee sorc). I did roll an elementalist early on in Guild Wars and like it pretty well(same with Necromancer, which is the closest class there to a lock), but in WoW, my mage is lvl 26 and is basically never played. I have 5 85's and are currently semi-working on a paladin(lvl 55) but my sorc/elementalist enjoyment didn't carry over to WoW, and even though I AM making a paladin I didn't get around to working on him till after maxing 5 other toons, and even though I've had him for a few months, I haven't even got him to Outland yet.

So, it really just varies from game to game, and depends on my mood. However, I am consistent in that I stick with damage dealers, I don't want to tank(I don't mind having a heavily armored durable character, but I do NOT want it to be my job) and have even less interest in healing.

I usually end up running tanks, or classes that can be played 'out of position'.
Diablo 2: throwing barbarian, melee necromancer, bow assassin
Hellgate London: gundian (tanky melee class played as range DPS)
Champions Online: glacier archetype (ranged tank ... yay!)
In Diablo 3, I'll most likely go for Barbarian (all those cool shockwave moves - definitely a caster!) or Witch Doctor (there must be a way to turn him into melee).

I've been thinking about this quite a bit of late. I always used to say I like being a ranged damage dealer in most games I play. However after a lot of thought I don't think it's actually true. I like the idea of being a ranged damage dealer but I seem to be far better at the melee damage dealer style.

The core of the isssue is I hate mana with a passion. Actually I dislike any resource system I can run out of. I like to spam my abilities with short cooldowns instead of having cast times and all that stuff.

I also like to play my characers with a similar setup. For example in Planescape Torment I just put 2 points into strength, 2 into vitality and 1 into dexterity and just went trhough the game solving most of my problems with violence. If there's something I can't kill I go away, find a bigger hammer and try again. The brute force and ignorance approach usually works for me.

I'll be playing a monk or barbarian in Diablo 3 most likely. In WoW my rogue was my first character and the one I am thinking of returning to. No poncing around worrying about mana regen. I can't be dealing with any of that nonsence.

Truth be told I'll play any class that has mechanics and a resource system I enjoy. That seems to usually work out as armor wearing, 2 hander weilding big ass mofos with attitude problems.

Pretty much one of two type, crazy as hell kill everything warrior/barb or heal like a boss class. Be it priest, TOS, or what have you healer in a game.
Orks, Space Marines, Rift (<---- Links for pics BTW)

Warrior in WoW, Warrior in Dragon Age, Warrior in Guild Wars, Champion(Warrior) in LOTRO, Knight(Warrior) in Tibia way back when, Melee in RuneScape(also way back when) and Soldier in Mass Effect - think that's about it.

Even my alts in WoW, LOTRO and whatever are warriors or at least Melee.

I always find I roll a healing class in new games as I find its easier to get into groups or be more useful in general. Like right now I got everything 85 in WoW and if I didn't have the option to play them all, I'd have quit ages ago.
