Smile I'm in need of a new computer.

    Hey anyone that reads this.

So, as the title says, I need a new computer. I'm looking for a computer that can handle basically any game well. The main one's that I play though are WoW, Rift, and Heroes of Newerth. I'd like to be able to play on ultra settings and not get any fps lag at all. At the moment I play on just a laptop and it seems like it can't handle as much as an actual desktop could.

I'm only able to afford around $1200 max USD, and I feel like I could build my own computer just fine with parts but i'm not sure what I need to get.

Here are some computer's I've been looking at. Are they any good?

    Please help! <3

Side note: I have no idea which brands are better for processors and video cards can someone explain the differences to me? (ATI vs Nvidia, Intel vs AMD)

Second one seems the most balanced, but is a little lackluster for the price.

All of them have very good CPUs and low-mid range GPUs.

You'll better of building your own.
Check the sweet spot builds or the builds posted in the main page by Chaud (I'll post a link later :P)
Unless I missed something, you can mix the parts from Fuzzy's 1000$ and 1500$ builds so you can fit them to your budget.

You'll have a much better PC than the pre-built ones you linked.
About brands: Intel Sandybridge chips are much better than the current AMD (that may change when AMD's Bulldozer chips are released).
Ati and nVidia are about the same, so it's up to you

You could also try building a custom one through Cyberpowerpc. I really like the options you have with them in your selections, lots of different models that you don't get from more mainstream custom pc companies.

As always though, building yourself will give you the most money to work with.

You can get a much much much better deal out of this if you either build it yourself, go to your local hardware dealer with a list provided by these forums and asking for a quotation , or simply by going to CyberpowerPC.com yourself and customizing + ordering it there.

For 1200 dollars you can easily get a nice i5-2500k with a Radeon HD 6950 and an SSD for your system drive all rounded up in a nice PC.

Almost all desktop computers are horribly balanced.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883227361

    Is a nicely balanced 1100T + AMD 6970 model.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883227322

    A nice i5-2400 + GTX 560ti model.

Both of them are better than any of the models you linked. But dont listen to much to the very loud sandybridge fans around here. An 1100T is an overkill for every single game out there. Even an i3-2100 will run all games perfect with the exeption of MMORPGS, even in SC2 (a CPU heavy game). An i3-2100 will not go bellow 40 FPS.

So while the i5-2400 is better than an 1100T. The difference between a 6970 and a 560ti is greater in games.

But always remember that building yourself is the best choice.

Yes. He got 1200, and upgrading to either 570 or 6970 will cost just about 200 USD.

And with the 5% instant rebate on orders over 999 it will cost about 1140.

I wasn't quite sure if you were looking to build your own or have a company do it for you. As for companies I really would stay away from Ibuypower or cyberpowerpc. The reviews on their sites look like almost borderline scams ( "people" giving 5 stars when they are writing a negative review? wtf check for yoursel). Look outside their site for reviews and you will see they are freaking horrible.

    Companies I would recommend.

    www.maingear.com
www.firelinepc.com (new company I think, prices still seem really low for what they offer),
and www.digitalstormonline.com (really expensive but reliable company)

I tried to make room for shipping/building premium. :<

I've found that for 1200 you can build a computer that'll be roughly 25% better than any computer you can buy prebuilt for the same money. Prebuilt computers just don't give you near enough bang for your buck. A alienware that costs like 2000+ can be built for 1100 on newegg. You're literally throwing money away buying a prebuilt.

So you didn't mention if the $1200 includes keyboard, monitor, and a mouse. Since you're moving from a laptop to a desktop one would assume you need the keyboard, mouse, and monitor but if you can confirm that we can give you a better idea of how much you will be spending.

At this point we can suggest these builds:
    $500 Build
    Case: Thermaltake V3 Black $39.99
    Power Supply: Antec EarthWatts EA-380D 380W $44.99
    Motherboard: AsRock H61M-VS $59.99
    Processor: Intel Core i3 2100 $124.99
    CPU Cooler: Stock - Free
    RAM: G.Skill 4GB (2x2GB) $34.99
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB $44.99
Optical Disc Drive: Sony Optiarc SATA DVD/CD Burner $19.99
Graphics Card: Galaxy GTS 450 $124.99
    Total: 519.92 USD

    $700 Build
    Case: Antec 200 $49.99
    Power Supply: Corsair CX500 $59.99
    Motherboard: AsRock Z68 Pro3-M $114.99
    Processor: Intel i5 2500k $219.99
CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 $49.99 == OVER BUDGET
    RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB $38.99
Hard Drive: Samsung Spinpoint F3 $64.99
Optical Disc Drive: Sony Optiarc SATA DVD/CD Burner $19.99
Graphics Card: Asus ENGTX 460 768 MB $144.99
    Total: 731.92 USD == 771.91

    $1000 Build
    Case: CoolerMaster Haf 912 $59.99
    Power Supply: Corsair TX650 $89.99
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68X UD-3 $169.99

You can build a very awesome gaming computer for $1200.
For cpu you need an i5-2500k, no serious gamer goes without one :P
Get a z68 or p67 mobo... doesn't matter too much which one just get one with good reviews and w/e features you need.
gskill ripjaws/sniper or corsair vengeance ram, 1333 or 1600mhz ram, 2x4gb sticks.
nvidia geforce gt 570 or amd radeon hd 6970 gpu... whichever you prefer they're about the same.
    hyper212+ cooler for the cpu
    samsung spinpoint f3 1tb hdd
a good corsair or antec 600w or higher psu (anything but the "builder" series)
any cheap cd/dvd drive (optional really)
any mid tower case that looks good for you and has 2+ case fans
Don't bother with an SSD... they're mostly a luxury item for high-end builds... you'd be better off getting max performance rather than trying to reduce load times.
If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One... now I am become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds.
