Rag Clearing Threat in P2

So, going into the stack part of P2 after the seeds spawn Rag seems to enjoy meleeing or Magma Blasting our healers or melee dps. Does anyone know if Rag clears his threat table each time he goes down for an intermission phase? Even with this, however, after the new threat changes I don't see how they could be pulling off of the tanks. Anyone had this happen to them?

No, he doesn't. If your tanks are running out of range of rag he will smack someone in melee though.

This is indeed definately a case of tanks running out of Ragnaros' melee range.

Like the above have said, sounds like a case of people not being in melee ranged of Ragnaros. While we're on the topic of Ragnaros and threat, is it possible for ranged DPS to pull aggro on the guy with people in melee range (hopefully a tank, but yeh?

What threw me is that the threat seems like its supposed to work like Al'akir. If the tank gets knocked off the platform or runs out of melee range he just gets lightning blasted, the boss doesn't turn to a melee and hit them. So I would think that even if the tanks run out of melee they should just get Magma Blasted and rag shouldn't hit a different player in melee that isn't his main threat target.

Al'Akir did this to punish you for trying to stand max range to avoid cyclones. Every other stationary boss including the original Ragnaros will attack the nearest melee on their threat list.

Range cannot pull on this fight unless they go into melee range or there are no melee left alive.
