    sata 6gb/s can it be used for my hdd?

    Will me using the sata 6gb/s cable / connection on the mobo for my samsung f1 hdd make a difference?

    Most all sata 3 6 gigs are backwards compatible with sata 2 3 gig devices. So yes, you shouldn't have an issue running it... but... you'll see no real performance increase and if you already have it on a sata 2 port you might as well leave it there.

    Edit: just realized this wasn't a "will it work" thread. So no, as Skelly said... no difference at all.

    Average transfer rate of Samsung F1 is about 90MB/s, which is way below even SATA1's 150MB/s maximum. Therefore plugging it in SATA1, SATA2 or SATA3 port or cable will produce exactly same results.
