Weird Start up thing?

When I started up my computer this evening I notice my background was the default windows 7 background. Also, my files from desktop were gone and on C:\Users\(my name). Also, chrome was not my default browser and my settings in it were gone. What happened?

Something happened to your computer and it had to be recovered to the last backup point, which is going to be when you either first booted up the computer and installed the OS or whenever you opted in to doing it.

Run system restore and find a time when the computer was working. Start menu > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore.
