Thanks for your incredible insight to the post. Your contribution will forever be remembered. For Christ's sake, if you don't have anything useful to post, just don't post.
What we've been doing is delaying Phase 2.5 as long as possible by keeping one Son so incredibly slowed and stunned that we have practically an eternity to burn Scions. This reduces P3 by a matter of 5-10 seconds or so which is absolutely wonderful. Your video blanks out shortly after you enter that Phase although it appears you are NOT trying to do that when the video returns.
Although we are yet to kill him (only 1 actual night of work and we got him to 18%) your kiting seems...odd.
Now, this .gif does NOT include Engulfing Flames although it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out necessary adjustments. We use a method very similar to this:
The key is to knock them back at the furthest distance from any given player to maximize your time, this method works great.
We found full side to side was not needed on normal. middle to side was plenty. We just setup two points (we picked circles on that inner ring as markers) one in the center and one on the right where the tanks normaly are. Phase 2 we cluster ~ 6yd apart near the center when seeds spawn we all move and stack on the side mark for heals and AOE. once adds are dead we spread out agian over on that side and repeat but move to the center instead on the next seed.
Our melee dont like this much attacking from the front but we tended to loose folks if we split the healers up so we could cover the sides in p2. In the end the melee would rather a 1 shot kill vs wipes with better positioning for them.
Its possible to dodge the seed landing, you can watch this in action on the world first heroic kill vid. This is risky for a non eliet hardcore guild though as you need everybody perfectly stacked and all moveing at exactly the same time. If one person is a bit slow or you misstime the move its bad.
Who is John Galt?
You wasted A LOT of time in the final phase, when you focused down both scions.. Ragnaros will not come back up after the transition until all the sons of flame are dead (Or after a certain amount of time) You should kill all but one son, have that son on low health, then focus down one scion, kill the son, and have your melee cleave the other scion to death.. This will give you a lot more time to dps Ragnaros.
Just to compare, you got your second meteor at 33%, our last kill with one guy dead the entire second transition and last phase, we got the second meteor at around 17%
Applause for the most constructive posts on the internet. How about stfu and troll somewhere else if you cant bring up help? Guess every thread needs narcistic tards like you.
@ Topic:
We use the side to side tactic ourself. After the smash b4 the seeds we all spread on 1 side like 6 yards away from each other. I (disci) shield ppl who get low and pop barrier on the other side at a marked spot to take lesser dmg from the explosions. On the next seeds we use a cry from warr and so on. You just need to check the dbm timer to not miss the running. And you realy have to avoid stacking ppl if you dont use the "run b4 they hit the floor" tactic (kinda needs some druids :P). Cuz iif someone gets 2 seeds it mostly causes his death.
So mainly spread 6 y from each other (can be tricky if you get engulfing in the middle of the platform and ranged stacks on melee). Then all run to the other side, pop cds and kill adds. Thats basicly it. Needs some time to master this properly, but success will come faster than you expect. Just have some kind of dmgtaken addon before deaths (i think recount does this) and find out whos still stacking.
You should use heroism in phase 3. And looking at your interface in the last phase I can easily assume that you are losing 6-7k personal DPS by moving too much and by not optimizing your DPS during movement.
Also during the second transition when you safely can assume that sons are no longer an issue, you can easily start switching for the Scions to buy you more uptime on them.
Use heroism/bl as soon as you're done with sons (either all dead or ideally one left alive far away from the hammer on low hp) in the second transition phase.
Phase 3 is actually the one we found the easiest to get down, as you'll get used to hammer from phase one on and the flames in phase two.
What we do is we, again, split up into two groups, one left one right, and people only kit meteors through the middle if it fixates on someone on the same side again. No movement required if it fixates on someone on the other side.
Just don't panic when you reach phase 3 and you will find a way that works for you really quick
our guild did the side to side thing, but we stayed in meleerange infront of raggy in the center after the seeds have spawned, we always spread to the right. works pretty well i must say, you completly avoid the hammer, and do jsut need to worry about the ingulfing flames wich has a 33% chance to land on you guys, then just move and jump, simple
gl, hope you kill him
everyone sorta stack up on one side, when they come. run over to the other and stack up for aoe healing / adds. Verry eassy and they take verry little health of the raid
Having people in the extreme corners of his semi-circle (left and right side of rag) can get you nice paths on the meteors so that they travel through the lava (where rag is standing) if you have someone else knock the meteor back into rag it will simply spend most of it's time in the lava trying to get to people but being knocked back before it even exits rag's hot tub.
