    New pc need help

So, i'm finally buying a new pc, and this is what i found for it:

    Cooler Master HAF X
    Corsair TX V2 850W PSU ATX 12V V2.3
    Intel® Core™ i7-960 Processor Socket-LGA1366, Quad Core, 3.2Ghz
    ASUS SABERTOOTH X58, Socket-1366 ATX
    Antec Kuhler H2O 620 CPU
    Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz 6GB CL9
    Gainward GeForce GTX 580 1536MB PhysX PCI-Express 2.0
    Corsair SSD Force Series™ F115, 115GB SATA2, 2,5"

    And screen: Samsung 24" LED Syncmaster S24A300B 1920x1080, 5ms, VGA/DVI

So is this ok? And will it run BF3 on max?

If you are building this yourself, and are listing the parts, then here are some pointers:

    1. The i5 2500k blows the i7 960 out of the water in gaming. The 960 is last generation. As such, you need a P67 (or any socket 1155 board to go with it). Check here if you don't trust me.
    2. Dual channel RAM kit is to recommend with a SB processor. Go with 2x4Gb kit, 1600Mhz. G.Skill Ripjaws are common.
    3. 850W is totally overkill for a single 580. Go for a quality 600W PSU instead; it will offer plenty of room for upgrades. Don't trust me? Check here.
    4. You will get better cooling with a Noctua NH-D14 for about the same price.

Anyway, what's your total budget and what will you use the computer for? Strict gaming? Video rendering? 3D work? Folding?

Edit: As far as we know, a single 580 will close-to max out BF3 at 1080p resolution.

No one can tell if it will run Battlefield 3 maxed out because the game is not released in it's full potential yet. (Alpha was a tuned down version)
    I'd get a 2500k over that 960 though.

Well problem is that i can't really build myself, and i'm buying from this site: http://www.komplett.no/k/config.aspx...SystemId=10427 So i kinda set it together on the site, maybe you can help me set it together with the parts there? I don't know alot about PCs so yeah.

I was about to post the same thing, but Chrome crashed (AGAIN DAMN IT!). Even though 600W is enough, I'd suggest a bit higher so you could get a second 580 later. If you don't care about SLI though, just go with Corsair HX/TX650.

EDIT: Saw you're not going to build it yourself. http://www.komplett.no/k/config.aspx...SystemId=10461 Try this one and configure it based on Marest's suggestions.

Since BF3 hasn't been released we don't know what it will take to run on max settings. That said:

The Core i7-960 is aging a bit, and the new sandy bridge processors outpace it a bit. Try getting a core i5-2500k. I know it is confusing that a lower model is actually faster, but that is the case here. If you really want an i7 though, the 2600k is the newer version. The benefit from it over the i5-2500k is minimal though. Moving to that will require that you get a different motherboard as well, but other then that everything looks good.

Heard there were some issues, fixed with the V2 one, not really sure though (and I got AX series myself so no personal experience)

I would say either find a friend that can, local gaming friends maybe. That site doesn't appear to be the kind of place where you will find good value for money.

The rumor mill still churns of BF3 taking advantage of Hyper threading.

As much as I hate Sandy Bridge you better bet is going to one if all you plan to do is game. 1366 is dead and those Extreme chips will never fall in price enough to be worth buying. I own a I7-960 system and it runs anything at max settings but the Sandy Bridge still has more chips coming out down the pike and right now it is just more cost effective. I managed to get a good deal on the Motherboard/CPU at the time which made it a good choice.

    2500 for $209, 960 for $269..... performance increase for the extra buck..slight.

Now I'm curious, why the hate on Sandy Bridge?
Also, for that extra $60, you get a performance decrease in most modern games: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/t...2100-tested/20
I know the i7 960 isn't listed, but I guess it's between the 970 and 950 in terms of gaming performance.

Given Crysis 2 is a piece of unoptimized shit (I read reviews which showed water being tesselated in the bloody city with no water near close, and flat objects with near 1 polygon per pixel) which puts Nvidia right at the top because their tesselation engine is far superior to AMD's implementation. (Nvidia uses it's shaders to process it where AMD has dedicated chips(?) for it, which to date are not being used to the fullest in Crysis 2). I'm guessing BF3 will be just like C2 since it's being heavily advertised by Nvidia. Anything you get for BF3 should be Nvida branded, so yeah, that 590 will do fine. Some Nvidia "Interviewer" interviewed a BF3 developer which said "the game will run smooth on 580's in SLI".

Rumor has it that HyperThreading is supported by BF3, so the 2600k is probably your best affordable bet for maxing it.
Them saying you can run the game smooth on 2 580's puts your 590 in almost the right spot, as it's basicly just that, but clocked slightly lower due to power limitations.
