Buying a new PC, am I buying the right (up-to-date) stuff? (+BF3 question)

    Hi all,

So because my current PC is having issues and because its old.. I'm buying a new PC.

    Here's the setup:
    CPU: Intel i5-2500k
    Graphics card: Asus ENGTX570 DC2/2DIS
MoBo: Asus Sabertooth P67 (Rev. 3)
    RAM: ADATA 8GB DDR-1600 Kit (2x 4gb)
    PSU: OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W

Only thing holding me back atm is: Am I buying up-to-date components?
(I know a bit more then average people about computers, but I'm not an expert either when it comes to hardware)

Should I wait a bit or is this a system that will run good for a couple of years?

And if there are any Battlefield 3 fans here:
Will this setup run BF3 on High specs?

    Thanks all.

I would suggest OCZ, Corsair, or G.Skill for memory manufacturers. I have had nothing but trouble from Adata. If you don't plan to SLI at any point in time you can drop the power supply down to a 500 or 550W and be just fine. All parts are up to date.

You should be able to play on high with a comfortable frame rate, might even push ultra in a couple places.

    Thanks for the fast reply.
I'm gonna check if I can find another manufacturer for the memory then
I changed the PSU for one from the same manufacturer but 600W (same price as any 500/550W at the moment because of a discount at the store where I'm buying).

    Thanks again,

    *checking for other RAM*

    *update*
    Found one from Corsair:
    Corsair 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit (Light-Retail, CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9, Vengeance)
    Even saved me 3 euro's

no reason to buy now, unless you desperately need it.

Just know that the non-low profile Vengeance RAM doesn't really fit if you plan on buying a bigger aftermarket cooler for your CPU (now or later).

You can't possibly know this. OP states they want a new PC, they're buying a new PC, why suggest they don't?

@OP - I don't know about OCZs PSUs. I usually go with Corsair, but that's personal preference.
The vengeance RAM - I prefer the low-profile version, just for heatsinks' sake.

    Otherwise, quite solid! ^_^

That will run BF really nicely!

Ok yeah I thought those Vengeance RAM would be a bit of a struggle to get in.. since I'm getting a Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 cpu cooler. I'll check for a low profile RAM tomorrow.

    Thanks for all the help.

    P.S.
Does anyone have experience with Kingston as manufacturer for RAM? I've got my eyes on "Kingston HyperX 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit (Light-Retail, KHX1600C9D3B1K2/8GX, blu, XMP)" now..

So, after some searching.. I found some G.Skill Ram.
    "G.Skill 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit (Light-Retail, F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL, RipjawsX)"

Who has experience with G.Skill? Any problems?
