This is the strategy writeup I am using for our Heroic Beth'tilac kill. What do you guys think?
"Aside from this being an exceptionally healer intensive encounter, there is one new add that spawns:
Cinderweb Broodling — These unstable spiders fixate on a random player and cast Volatile Burst when they reach their target.
Volatile Burst — Cinderweb Broodlings explode when they reach a player, inflicting 45000 Fire damage to all enemies within 8 yards.
1. Tank
2. 5 Healers (3 of which stand slightly outside of the raid stack to help the blockers)
3. 11 DPS (3 of which are Soakers/Blockers)
SOAKERS:
1.Hunter + Healer (The healer should rarely have to help out with the Broodling)
2.Hunter+ Healer (The healer should rarely have to help out with the Broodling)
3.Boomkin+Healer
The 2 hunters should be the soakers, because if they get Fixate, they can feign death. The Boomkin will get lifegripped and beeline towards the Drone if he gets fixated. If the Boomkin gets fixated, he will have a backup boomkin head over to his cave to pick up the slack.
---All of the soakers will have a backup in case the spiderlings get out of control. We will designate the backups before the encounter. If a Soaker/Blocker dies, the backup needs to take over that individuals cave before they die.
3. 5 Dps (5 Melee, preferably those without taunts)
The tank will call out when they are going up, after that it’s a free for all for the rest of the group to go up. The melee need to make sure they are not taking a healers rope up, the healers will be marked.
STRATEGY:
P1
Countdown and pull the boss, get as much dmg into Beth’tilac before she ascends.
Everyone, including the soakers taunt the spiderlings down.
Upstairs tank, call out when you are going up. The rest of the upstairs team will follow ASAP
Soakers head to your cave. Additionally, the Boomkin soaker will need help from a designated range for the first set of spiderlings because the first set will aggro to the boomkin, not the Drone.
Everyone switch to the Drone
After the first Smoldering Devastation, everyone needs to taunt the Spinners down, including the Hunters.
Repeat step #3 and #6
P2
Once Beth'tilac descends, the backup raiders for the soakers will head over to help get the spiderlings down.
Stack on Beth’tilac’s ass and cleave down the Drone.
CD USAGE FOR P2
Basically it looks exactly like it should. Just a few notes:
While progressing it may not be best to have 5 people up constantly. During progress we only had 3 people up all the time and 2-3 more people (arcane mages with full cooldowns or hunters with the +% crit on >90% targets) only in the first phase. It is enough if you get Beth'tilac to <80% before the second phase starts. You'll have to decide that after seeing if your downstairs DPS is high enough.
Assign 2 people to help per lane during transition, not only their backup. There's a set spawning right before she casts her last Smoldering Devastation and it's crucial that those die.
You shouldn't stack up Divine Guardian and Power Word: Barrier within the same seconds. They're incredibly strong and should likely not be used together unless the boss is about to die within the next few seconds. Also maybe bloodlust a little later.
Good idea with Divine Guardian and Barrier. We downed her for the second time tonight and never even got around to using Barrier. I am going to move the CD's up the list.
I find 8 healers pretty overkill. We are going with 7 normally and have been going with 6 one week where we had a shortage of healers. 2 healers going up should be enough by far, infact when we went 6 healers we only had one resto druid upstairs and then rotation our two druids so they would go up there with ToL and tranq. healing in p2 is pretty easy if you skip healers as your stacks wont reach deadly amounts
Basically you want to figure out the exact number of dps you need below to kill the 1st drone before the 2nd drone/spinners spawn, and keep that number down and send as many up as possible, especially those with very strong burst, their cds will be up. With good enough dps up there you can easily push her well below 90%, i think our best was just below 85 on the first up phase. After that, you will need to keep more down as your dps will no longer have cooldowns below and falling behind on adds will cause a wipe. Note that if you're sending a lot of dps up top at once, you might need to bring a 3rd healer there to help with the aoe.
Assuming the soakers are doing their job, the biggest part of this fight is the spinners. Not only taunting them down, but actually killing them as well, as they still do their spit when they off the webs, it just doesn't hit quite as hard. Keeping them grouped up (preferably on the drone) will make them die much faster. We found that soakers taunting was not optimal unless you're desperate for taunts, spiners being spread out makes them die slower.
Melee is not necessarily the best to go up top, some classes excel below, such as combat rogues with their cleave, ret pallies and frost dks have fairly good aoe and two taunts (ret taunts are OP here), and feral druids with their good burst aoe are extremely useful on the spinners. Also with this, melee should have agro on the spinners and the pile can be brought to the drone to be killed quickly with splash damage on the drone. We send mostly casters up top.
DPS helping with heals is also helpful when the damage starts getting scary, helping a bit earlier will also help your healers not fall behind. healers shouldn't need too much help during hero, so make sure that dps is more worried about dpsing while its active. Your P2 looks good enough, and truthfully p2 is not where the fight is decided, once you start getting to p2 with everyone up and the healers still having mana, expect a kill soon.
Edit: just saw you killed her, oops. Oh well maybe someone else can make use of this info...
beth 10 heroic got some nerfs, i believe 10% less hp on drones, and 10-20% less damage from ember flare. I saw no changes in the 25 man heroic version.
Looks fine to me, P2 looks a little spread out to me, I'd condense it down alittle in that I'd start your CD's from ~22-24 and make sure someone calls it on vent/ts.
Make sure your raiders use cd's fast - it's about 6m 30s to 7m as a fight, so for example you can get 3 resto tranqs in the fight if done well, same with 2 MTT's per shammy easily.
A couple hints in addition to those listed above. We often send up 4-5 DPS per phase to dps Beth, and an additional 1-2 on the first phase only. DPS isn't as tight down below in the beginning, and they can use their cooldowns on Beth, then hop below when she casts Smoldering Devastation, and still have time to kill the Drone.
Also, bring 2 arcane mages to cheese the AOE. Mages are great to go up top regardless, because of the burst, and the phases happen to coincide with their cooldowns. To cheese the AOE, when everyone drops down for smoldering, have the mage invis before the end of the cast, dodging the spell damage, then immediately cast Barrage at her. Blink away and pop Mirror Images. They will distract her long enough for the mage to get away from her. Because the mage is up top, engaging Beth, she does not AOE the raid below. The tank comes back up and picks her up like normal, and the mage is set to stay up there and DPS, or drop down below, pending assignment. 2 Mages are needed to do this, because of the timer on MI, on the first and second Smoldering Devastations.
