This is what I usually go for when going for walkthrough moves (obviously discounting signature moves like oblivious wing)
Bug: x-scissor/bug buzz
Dark: crunch/dark pulse
Dragon: dragon claw/dragon pulse (although outrage is alright too given most trainers have little pokemon and a lot are mono-typed teams)
Electric: thunderpunch/thunderbolt
Fairy: play rough/dazzling gleam
Fighting: drain punch/aura sphere
Fire: firepunch/flamethrower
Flying: drill peck/air slash (or acrobatics if this is the move I'll be spamming most and then no item held)
Ghost: shadow claw/shadow ball
Grass: lots of good options here: leaf blade/seed bomb/petal blizzard/horn leech for physical and energy ball/giga drain for special
Ground: EQ/Earth Power
Ice: icepunch/ice beam
Normal: body slam/tri attack
Poison: poison jab/sludgebombwave
Psychic: psychic/psyshock and for physical psycho cut or zen headbutt I suppose? Never needed physical psy so far.
Rock: rock slide/power gem
Steel: iron head/flash cannon
Water: waterfall/surf
Steel for example I rarely ever run, even for stab. Was quite surprised at the amazing options for grass tbh. And lack of amazing options for physical elemental attacks (electric, fire, ice).
