That is an endearing comic. One of my favorite things about the show is how an evil bastard like Vegeta slowly becomes a decent guy. The pacing for his character is really quite good.

If Buu doesn't feel like absorbing Broly, then his regenerative powers still give him an edge.

You need more than just being stronger than Buu to beat him. You have to be significantly stronger.

its like throwing a brick at someone who is immune to bricks, but thrown with enough force, it will push them backwards, but not hurt them

That's simply not true.

And it's impossible to know how strong SS3 Broly is, because LSS isn't a known multiplier, and you can't count in Super Saiyans, because the strength of a Super Saiyan is based on the base power level of the person. SS Goten for example isn't worth as much as SS Goku. We don't actually know how strong base form Broly is, so without that data LSS could be even stronger than SS3 as a transformation and we would never know.
