Unless you are gay then you can't determine what is offensive to gay people. "Faggot" and "fag" are offensive words to nearly all gay people when it comes from a straight person. Think of the word like the "n" word black people use. If you're not one of them then its offensive and you should not be using it. Also the way the OP used the word is meant to be derogatory therefore it falls along the lines of gay bashing.
