Use the i5 2500k and the HD6870. Best of both builds.

Switch build B to an I-7, and get a video card that's a little cheaper. (if you're only playing wow, a good CPU will give you a bigger boost than a good video card)
It looks like that Radeon 5850 runs about $250 (USA), for about 100bucks cheaper you can get a Nvidia gtx 460 (what i have) and get 60fps constant in wow. (with an i-7 processor)

But that's just my opinion and experience.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no x 42 times.
An i7 is NOT better than an i5 for gaming, in fact, for WoW, tests show that the 2500k is superior.

The architecture of the i7 and i5 are the same. The only difference is the i7 has hyperthreading which WoW can not utilize. Ergo the i5 becomes the better purchase due to price and equivalent performance in WoW as the i7.

I like Sapphire as a brand. I tend to use them in all of my personal builds and client builds. Generally it just comes down to price for me and usually the Sapphire is a few dollars less than the Asus or Gigabyte equivalent.

2600k isn't better than 2500k for gaming. They're almost the same and the difference isn't worth the extra 100$. Unless you're interested in video editing/3D rendering, you should stick with an i5. Also 5850 doesn't cost 250$, you're probably thinking of 6950. And yes, 6870 is better than 5850.

Instead of arguing about the processor i'll just post a link so you can decide for yourself.

You should read closely in your own link. Look at the scores for World of Warcraft Cataclysm...The i5 beats the i7. We're talking WoW here, nothing else. WoW, just WoW.

And yes Card A and CPU B.

Lol, with a 460 and an i7, you should be getting a lot more than 60 FPS. Turn off Vertical Sync... ;-)

If all he has is a 60Hz monitor turning off Vsync will give him no visual difference. Yes you can stroke your ego and say I run at 120+ FPS but it doesn't matter if the monitor can't display it.

Isn't that why most of us build these gaming rigs? =P

Looks good. If you plan to overclock I would suggest an aftermarket CPU cooler such as the Coolermaster Hyper 212. Also you don't have an operating system or DVD drive noted so I will assume you are reusing, otherwise you need to factor that in.
