Since I haven't gotten around to playing anything else, Street Fighter was released in 1987, Final Fight released in 1989.
nobody mentioned Defender? or Stargate? Missle Command, Qix.
If only I could have the quarters I frittered away in those games.
Jazz Jackrabbit, Dune, Heroes of Might and Magic, Duke Nukem, and Age of Empires. These are "newer" games though, but still classics on my book. :3
on this topic does anyone know of any really good rpgs that can be bought on steam preferably
"Anger dwells only in the bosom of fools" Albert Einstein
Snake. Tetris. Pong. Oh wait, those were already listed... Oh! Polybius.
Tyrian 2000
Boulder Dash, Bomberman, Lemmings.... stuff like that
Descent - more or less a unique mechanic at it's time, but not THAT old...
should it be really simple things like in pong or do straightfoward games count to it? If the answer would be yes, I would like to add godgames like populous or Sim City.
And if Mario and Donkey Kong are simple enough, Sonic is a must on this list. Oh, and do you remember Duck Hunt?
Arcade:
-Ozma Wars (1978)
-Bagman
-Mr. Do!
-Arm-Wrestling (Nintendo)(Punch-Out spin-off)
-Burger Time
-Professor Pac-Man
More Modern Arcade (90s):
-Metal Slug
-In the Hunt
-Street Fighter 2
-Mortal Kombat
If you want a simplistic game yet a different style then what most people think of when classic games are brought up them maybe use some text adventures like Zork.
If you want something more interesting then standard arcade games everyone knows about them look into some Amiga and Commodore 64 games.
And of course throw in some classic RPGs like Ultima, Wizardry, Might&Magic, Dragon Warrior and the original Pokemon games.
If you want some really simplistic games then include some old handheld LCD games like the Game&Watch series and Tigers LCD series from the 90s.
And if it has not been listed yet: Bomberman
Oh and the first Ys game also, game was an RPG but combat was very simple, mainly just bumping into enemies in order to attack them.

Oh, and Sinistar. That voice was HORRIFYING when i was a little kid.
try nintendo theres millions of games to play
Video game Jesus.... no. Not even on the 64. The 64 had Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Killer Instinct Gold, Mario Kart 64, Pokemon Stadium, Super Smash Bros., Mario 64, Blast Corps, Fighters Destiny 2, and many others.... and that was just on the 64. The Saturn is in the same "generation". Only stupid people would think Ocarina was the Jesus of those days.
Moving on to the OP.
I honestly suggest just getting a Meme emulator pack and or a NES emulation pack.
For the NES you can't go wrong with Bubble Bobble or Marble Madness.
Déjà vu For the NES
Holy crap that game hooked me ..Prob played it form the age of 8 til 12.
NES or course. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x19Jb...eature=related
