Removing system messages

Is there a way to remove/turn off the system messages that appear in the top center part of your screen (the big yellow text)? Is that default or is an addon like DBM causing that?

Big yellow text? As in, during raid encounters? Well, the ones actually caused by the default UI can be filtered in the DBM options somewhere I believe. However, DBM also sends those alerts for various events.

If it's not the raid encounter ones you're referring too, please provide an example of such a message.

When in AB, for example, messages like "Firedexx assaults the Blacksmith". They show up in chat and in the middle of the screen.

Yes, I believe you could disable those somewhere in the DBM options. Haven't used it in a long time though, so I can't be of any help there.

Those messages are part of the default UI, you can use Arathi Basin Spam Fix to disable the messages while in AB.
