Thumbs down Rift likes to drop to 15~ fps

So it's weird, if I tab out of Rift at all whilst playing, my fps drops severely upon tabbing back in. I don't play in windowed mode or anything. Normally I just have to restart the game, but that's honestly an annoyance... you shouldn't have to do that. =/

    Specs:

Playing on 1680x1050 22" monitor with most settings maxed out.

    i5-2500K @ 4.5GHz
MSI Twin Frozr II GTX 560 Ti @ 900/1800, however it sometimes likes to downclock to the 400s where it won't clock back up, I've noticed lately. (I think this started when I started doing F@H, typically I have to restart my computer to fix that.)
    16GB of 1600MHz RAM.
Rift is installed on my Crucial m4 128GB SSD

Fire away with any suggestions or thoughts. I'm wondering if maybe this is just a bug in Rift they're trying to fix.

Try playing in windowed/fullscreen? I've personally not encountered this error and my machine is generation behind yours. Click my CPU-Z banner for my PC details.

There have been some reported issues in FPS with Rift dealing with windowing, tabbing, and things of the nature last I heard.

I play in Fullscreen, which from my time playing WoW, I found full screen is what forces your computer to put the most of its effort and power towards that program... it also makes the game look a bit better. No idea why you have not experienced it. I think it's dumb.

test windowed/fullscreen and see if it happens, delt.

(windowed mode with fullscreen checked. it's usually how i run WoW)

I think with the last patch they had on Wed they addressed some issues about that. Tho sine I have not done more research, it could of pertained to something different.
Orks, Space Marines, Rift (<---- Links for pics BTW)

Was not a fix. YOU HAVE FAILED. (Thank you for the attempted help.) ;p

I guess I'll just restart the computer... but yeah my GPU's core clock speed is not going above 405MHz.... when it should be at 900MHz. It'll gladly drop down more, but it will not go above 405. Stupid stupid STUPID.

obvious question here - have you tried different drivers for your GPU? Could be a driver issue.

Nowai. Gotta be progressive! I always be sure to have the latest non-alpha/beta NVidia drivers. ;p

Btw going Windowed Fullscreen fixed the problemo. Thanks!

Whoa, I kinda want to look into that downclocking issue, I have the same thing on the same card (but mine is a Gigabyte 560 Ti SOC MHz core). It downclocks itself after folding or when I tried bit-coin mining.

GTX 560 TI stable at 1GhZ
    PCPartPicker Love it.

It's a known issue after folding, I've read that a combination of overclocking and driver version# is to blame. It's a pain though.

Heh, you confused me you said in an earlier post it didn't work? Yeah it's how I've been running the game forever and no issues. I don't overclock my video card but the rest I do.

my computers not to beefy but its a decent dualcore with a gt9500, so meh, i HAVE to play in that reduced graphics setting, with 1366/768 or w/e it is
to get ANYTHING close to 30fps, and during 10+rift raids or w/e i get 5-10 so i stoped playing. Its vanilla wow grinding and i have no interest in it taking 2 weeks to get 1 peice of crafted gear.
Its a decent game but fucking garbage FPS,

Got ya, I should of made it clearer in my reply what I meant with Fullscreen/Windowed. None the less glad you figured it out.

Yar, no reason after spending over a grand on my PC should I have to settle with random drops in the FPS and having to restart the darn thing. ;p Now I can tab out without worry!
