Sample builds updated. Most remain the same with a few tweaks here and there. If you can find one, the Pentium G2120 is still one of the best sub-$500 gaming build CPUs that together with a good discrete graphics card can offer excellent performance in most titles. For WoW (and most other MMOs) however, the i3 3220 is probably the wiser choice still.

The 3570k remains the go-to CPU for anyone looking to build a decent-to-awesome gaming rig. SSDs are becoming more popular for each month and today they are almost common place. If you are looking to build a gaming computer for $700+, at least consider getting one. My recommendations for graphics cards are as follows:

Budget picks: Radeon 7770, Radeon 7850, nVidia GTX 460
    Mid-range: Radeon 7870, Radeon 7950, nVidia GTX 660
High-end: Radeon 7970 GHz Edition, nVidia GTX 660 Ti, nVidia GTX 670

The latest drivers fixed some issues with CrossFire, but due to micro-stuttering nVidia is still the way to go for multi-GPU setups. As always, never pick two graphics card if you can achieve close to the same performance with one for roughly the same price.

Great job on the builds, but shouldnt you put the 7950 in the high end aswell? Both pricewise and performance wise.

Perhaps. But it means very little in reality.

I'm considering trying out this headset but so far from what I read they might even be worth considering for the suggested headset section:

    SkullCandy SLYR - $80

Fun: 8 (Great. They really did a great job in finding a great balance between fun and balance. Very impressive for this price)

Competitive: 7 (Good. They absolutely do their job. I'd say stereo gamers will particularly love them, kind of like how I personally see the M50s if a little better in terms of positional cues. For us virtual surround gamers, I'd still say they are worth looking into if you absolutely need a headset.)

Comfort: 7.5 (Very good. Those with larger ears may have to use them as on ear as mentioned before, though they are still comfy in that way.)
    Review (search for SkullCandy)

Personally, I would stay away from the big brands like Skullcandy and Razer... And Beats, for the love of god never get Beats. Usually the products are high-end but you end up paying for the brand, while something like Logitech or Steelseries would perform better at a cheaper cost.

However, did you actually read the review?

Skullcandy has proven themselves wanting to penetrate the premium segments with some success, like the Aviat..or?
Either way, I'd take anything Head-fi with a grain of salt.

Without having any real proof of course it seems the guy knows what he is talking about considering all the reviews, comparisons etc.

According to what benchmark? Can you think of any actual reason that qualifies it as better?

So... a $100 price increase... for what, exactly?

You just said literally fuckall. "Yes I do"? Yes you do what? Have benchmarks? You don't compare them. Neither do they. Your sources literally have no connection off the bat that tells me anything remotely useful, nor give any reason why the 680 version of the card is better than the 7970.

it's actually rather simple, if you plan on doing a multi card setup, get the 680, if not, get the 7970

    msi gtx 680 - 9.8 rating
    msi 7970 - 8.0 rating

    Why?

He has the GTX 600s dominating in almost all the other builds. Frankly, however, the 7970 GHz Lightning is pretty damn good. Not to mention is has more VRAM natively and a bigger membus, takes less power both at load and idle... Also it supports 6 monitors.

I think what Marest really wants from you, is to provide cold hard evidence and reasoning to switch them.

If you are basing your entire opinion on these two numbers I can't take you seriously, sorry.
