So this game basically ignores KOTOR 2, right?

The new Revan novel retcons most of KotOR 2, and seeing as how ToR's storyline railroads Revan pretty hard, it seems like storyline wise this game's really ignoring the good parts of its previous games...

I wouldn't really call KotOR2 good, but yeah. I guess since BioWare didn't make KotOR2, they're mostly ignoring it.

Technically they did make it....they had everything in place to finish it, they just handed it to another company to finish so they could do another game for themselves

They have answered this many times, no they are not ignoring it at all. After all, canonwise The Exile's companions are taught by her how to wield the force and become a jedi. They were the ones that recreated the Jedi Order and brought peace to the galaxy.

However, most of kotor 2 story line happend behind the scenes right? So it wouldn't make any sense that absolutely everyone and their mothers knows what really happend. I mean she was being persured relentlessly by the Sith and had to stay in hiding, finding the old masters while solving delicate situations. The only people that really knew what was going on was actually a very few induvidials and some mandolorian raiders.

I wont give any spoilers, but something I noticed in the Beta came from KOTOR2.

However as someone said much of KOTOR2 is behind the scenes, where as KOTOR was something the Galaxy as a whole had to deal with.

...and that didn't work out to well... The game was great in concept but fell apart with being so short, incomplete and buggy.

The Holonet timeline on the official site really skims over the Exiles story and barely mentions the new order being formed from her followers.

I doubt SWTOR could completely ignore it though, when you have enough content to make an MMO you or someone else tends to use what you have at your disposal.

Maybe they will fill in the gaps of what the unfinished game left out? maybe they will explain HK-47s seige on the HK-50 (HK-51?) factory.

I've actually heard rumors that there may be a "secret" unlockable companion, HK-51, but I havn't seem much proof supporting it.

wait how do you know this? the novel isn't out till November.

actually I hope it does ignore KOTOR 2 as it was a mess. I wouldn't mind referencing a few things but as they had nothing to do with it you could see them not wanting to mention certain things. I did like the Handmaiden, and Vira-Lorr.

I'll give you Atton. I thought he was a pretty cool guy with an interesting background. I didn't care much for Kreia though, the end was just a jumbled mess of who knows what.

You realize The old republic takes place 308 years after Kotor 2 right?

    Kotor 2 - 3,951 BBY

Hanharr was awesome. nothing quite expresses pwnage like a near-invulnerable psychotic wookiee companion.

and Obsidian is the company that 'finished' KOTOR2 btw.

and your point is? That was common knowledge that it comes over 300 years after the games. Things like the Holonet timeline on the official website and other sources seem to skip right over KOTOR 2 but mention KOTOR 1 in detail.

The game itself also has the very real connection of Satele Shan, Bastila's descendant. There seems to be lots of connections to KOTOR 1 but almost no mention of KOTOR 2 so that is why the OP asked the question.

We are all so very happy for you that you were "special"/lucky enough for beta.....

I don't need to hear any info about the game, it was just that your first post seemed to shut down the idea that the game will have ANY connections to KOTOR games. If you wanted to ve more clear you should of outright stated yes or no or say nothing at all.

Noting a 300 year time difference seems to imply distance that can't be overcome without any sort of qualifier like "only 300 years".

Semantics I guess, but your first post was still almost useless without context (and content).

Domenik beat me to it. The game takes place quite a bit after the events of the KotOR games. So naturally, one would ASSUME that there are things in SWTOR that were influenced by the previous single player games.

KoTOR 2 is awesome, in many ways it's superior to the first game. Buttt obviously it does have a lot of flaws. If only they had another few months working on it.... ah well.

I just want to know what the heck happened to Revan dammit! He has to be dead by TOR but what happened to him!
