Streaks of bad drops. Do drops really deserve to be random?

I know most people don't question the RNG when it gets to drops, but I'm not sure it's really fair. For example, right now we have 3 or 4 people in the guild that consistently get the same drops. We started disenchanting 391 items when several of us are only on 378 and below. Is it really fair?

Random drops is one of the worst systems of giving loot ever invented. In 10-mans it's not rare for us to disenchant something off of the first boss kill we get in a raid due to our setup.

We've been 6/7 heroic for a while now and I've only got one piece of tanking 391. That's just how it works. You'll get your loot sooner or later -- just be patient.

I do wish something was done... I don't know what but our shaman now has almost 4 compete sets of gear while some of our group is still trying to get rid of pre-firelands crap... QQ

Fair? Hell no. What is to be done about it though?

Let me give you a little slice of my life. Before I had 3 pieces of ret gear from t11 instances, I had a FULL, armor, rings, wep, shield,cloak healing off set.

And in FL? Almost the same pattern again. We have been disenchanting holy paladin plate since the 2nd week in. I have my off set, the pally tank has his off set, and the BS continues.

We have gone six, maybe seven weeks without a Conq drop from Domo. We've had both double Vanq + Prot and double Prot + Vanq. Once we even had a triple Vanq. Random loot is random.

I still have a 353 helm, Halfus refused to drop his helm for me in T11 nor did Nef and now I have to wait for the non tier one to hopefully drop from Rag 30 weeks of no Halfus helmet is sad

I'm all for a bit of rng on the drops, but honestly -

We've had 1 cloak from rhyo between normal and heroic EVER.

We've had 1 vanq shoulder token between normal and heroic.

We've never had the tank trinket from beth.

We've never had the matrix trinket from rag.

But every week, without fail, shannox drops the 2h axe and beth drops the tanking sword. Every week. We've had something like 6 of each in a row.

I do think we need rng on loot. But I also think a system needs to be implemented where the more an item drops for a guild group, the less likely it will be to continue dropping consecutively, in essence, increasing the chance of other loot to drop, resulting in a wider variety of loot overall, while keeping that rng factor. -Or to put it more simply: Variable drop rates based on your guild's loot trends.

Or maybe I'm crazy.

For the first time. in 6 weeks, WE DIDNT HAVE A DRUID TOKEN DROP, for 6 weeks, its been all druid helms and sholders and hc legs... we did baleroc hc and look, CONQ GLOVES! SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

They need to change it slightly for 10m at the least... we have 1 who can use said druid tokens, he has gear for every specs now better then some of our mains main specs cause of it =<

I did Gruul's for 18 months once a week - before I got my Shoulder drop.

I think a better solution would be to have part tokens drop, sort of like valor points - except more specialised.

So - Shannox would drop a token called "Shannox's Toenail', in addition to the normal drops - every player in the raid gets one of these. You can take 10 of them and go and buy any Shannox loot. This means that at worst, you will get your Shannox loot within 10 kills.

whilst it sucks for 10man i really cant think of another way to distribute loot that couldn't be abused in some form, smaller loot tables and more bosses would be the no brainer one i suppose...

Our druid tank has 3 complete 4pce's.....

While im rocking 359 shoulders. Raid make up plays a huge part. With 2 locks, 2 priests and a pally (in our raid), thats half the raid needing one token....

Why the hell wouldn't you use a vicious/ruthless helm then.
Just because its PvP doesn't mean the pure stat gains from them won't be a bigger benefit then some za/zg gear.

Look at my armory page on my sig. See all those neat pieces of gear i got for clearing FL on normal? Then you see a pvp helmet on my head....

yeah... the last pve head piece i SAW dropping was the caster cloth head from ZA..... lolz... never got t10 head, and ryolith always drops the spellpower sword....

Took 3 months before our first tanking sword dropped from beth'ilac, so never saw a 378 version of that :P It's a bit late now though haha. This is even 25 man, so random is random

To be honest I wish that they made all mail into leather. I think it would help a lot in having only cloth/leather/plate instead of 4, and the leather agility and leather intellect would get used more.

My guild has been clearing FL every week since 4.2 launched and there are still multiple items that haven't even dropped once. Today was the first time we ever got EITHER of the healing trinkets :|

RNG may suck at times, but whats the alternative? Make it drop certain loot on certain days? Then people would only go on the days that their loot drops, and once everybody gets their loot, nobody will want to raid anymore. RNG is the only way to keep it fair in a sense.

What they could do however, is make everything have the same drop rate, not let somethings have a higher % chance

Haven't seen that tanking sword or trinket in about 14 lock outs.

we r 6/7h and we always, and i mean ALWAYS, get paladin,priest,lock token from majordomo and ragy, i just oppened a ticket last week and get some useless answers like the legendary "The developers are always listening to what the player base is looking for in a game, and if you go the forums to discuss your ideas you can be sure that they will see your post." well idk maybe just "bad luck"
