yeah, Elfen Lied was definitely sad, although it was also kinda one of the first drama anime i saw..

nothing beat Kimi ga Nozomu Eien in sadness for me, though.. i literally burried my face in hands and cried for like half an hour ='(

as for good/bad endings in general, i vote for Kanon (2006) for best ending! \o/
