    Login screen - breaking news?

    My Breaking News section is broken. Ever since I played on a private server, with ANOTHER client, it keeps showing me news for that private server.... So it must be a file somewhere in C: that was modified. Any ideas on how to fix it?
    (PTR client shows no news at all)

    Try deleting the config for the launcher and client.

    Inside the wow folder (maybe, depending on OS/install location) there should be a folder called WTF.
    Inside that there will be two files amongst others perhaps called Config.wtf and Launcher.wtf.

    Deleting config.wtf will clear the settings for your client, including video/sound/login email etc so make a note of anything specfic if you might have trouble recreating it.
    Launcher.wtf has settings for the launcher.

    Do those deletions while wow is not running, and then try again.

    Nothing worked. I even searched for the server's name in folders, files and stuff, deleted all. Still there.

    Check your realm list (Data/enXX/realmlist.wtf)
    Should be
    set realmlist XX.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
    set patchlist enXX.patch.battle.net:1119/patch
    set realmlistbn ""
    set portal XX
    (replace XX with your region)
    Making your GIF Avatar to 20kb is hard. Especially when the original is 504kb

    Personally i never use the breaking-news section, but you could try to reinstall WoW entirely...yeah you heard me >:I.
    Don't want to sound like tooo much of a dickwad but if you download/install stuff for a private server client you can expect this stuff to happen.

    While that almost sounds like a troll post, it's what i'd try. Delete something from data and when wow cant start it will reinstall everything fresh

    This should fix your problem. Make sure you replace the XX with your region abbreviation though. US for United States. EU, TW, KR, etc

    A private server launcher could of changed the contents of your Host File around... Which could of caused this to happen constantly with any breaking news section (instead of connecting to the IP adress that holds the breaking news information, it connects to the private server IP)

    Copy and paste the contents of your Host File in this thread?

    That's the file I was looking for. Solved it
    It was something like

    ##edited ps name-WoW overrides
    editedIP status.wow-europe.com
    editedIP launcher.worldofwarcraft.com
