Getting into SWTOR

Hey SWTOR fans I need your help, I watched the CGI trailers a while ago and I feel they truly define what Star Wars is. So this really got me into the game and I decided to check out some gameplay videos, I was massively disappointed because the gameplay appeared very slow and extremely clunky. Now I kept an open mind and figured it was because it was in alpha and the demonstrator's or participants were taking things slow, but I can't find the motivation to search for more videos and possibly find bad ones and sour my thoughts on SWTOR more.

This is where you experts come in, do any of you have a link(s) to a video with some really sweet gameplay that shows off how awesome SWTOR is going to be, i'm hoping for fast and fluid gameplay? If you do then thank you in advance.

You can go to SWTOR.com and look up the developer walk throughs on some of the flashpoints. Everything else would be leaked beta footage which breaks NDA. That won't be happening on this forum.

Keep in mind the NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) is in effect. This means that any current gameplay videos are being zapped by anyone hosting them so its going to be very hard to find what the game looks like now, but you can still find videos. You just wont find them on Youtube or any common sites. From what Ive seen in the leaked footage they resolved the clunky gameplay a long time ago. I know exactly what your talking about, but that was about 2 years ago that I was seeing videos and feeling that way.

These are all stellar videos and I highly recommend the dev walkthru of Eternity Vault. You will be able to see some nice group footage with several classes on the Imperial side.

The best video that I have seen gameplay wise was actually TB's video of trooper. It is good because it is a ranged class and lets you see the entire field as well as just being well recorded and actual gameplay. Keep in mind that it is level 14 and most likely the person playing has no experience. I am also a bit more pvp oriented, so it helped me more than some of the official vids.

After watching all of these videos i'm definitely more excited for SWTOR. The best video I feel is the trooper one as it shows fluid gameplay while revealing a tonne of awesome features in PVP.

I was very worried myself that the cinematics would far outclass the actualy gameplay. But after doing my own research I was just like O-O

When on YouTube, keep in mind that some videos are years old and not very accurate to the current build(s).

When searching for game footage for any game, it's likely more practical to search by "upload date". Also, be wary of custom or altered videos - some unofficial or modified ones purposely (?) contain distorted aspect ratios and poor frame rates.

Ya, that video was what really got my hopes up. Really smooth and good animations. Watching the Jedi and Sith fight from a distance lets you really see those deflections and parries. Have to keep in mind that it is only level 14 too Looked very easy to pick up and play for a WoW vet. I also like the removal of rez timers and hope that is intended.

They have a 'rez timer,' they've just cleverly hidden it in plain sight Instead of standing around at a graveyard/respawn location with your thumb up your ass, waiting for a timer to tick down, you hop on a speeder and fly back into the battle.

Not only does this smooth the transition but it provides a unique strategic addition too. While you're waiting to rejoin the battle you can see the battlefield from above, and can call out enemy movements to your defenders at the turrets.

I just do not want the rez waves. When you die there should be set amount of time to return. No more 2 seconds one time and 30 seconds the next. RNG should be minimized - even when dead.

Agree on that one big time. Many a WoW TB run was won or lost because of when players die. Accidentally (in the sense of intentional or not) kill defenders when the ressurection count is at 30 seconds, and you take a base. It can't really be predicted by a PuG, it just _happens_.
