I think one thing I have really (seriously) struggle with is still transitioning to raiding with an actual computer. For the past 3-4 years, I have raided heroics on a Macbook Pro and over the summer I finally got a new computer + Naga mouse and had to relearn how to play the game with a mouse. One of my worst habits is that i've been playing with a sequence macro for my dots for years to save space on my bars because I played without a mouse. I think it is really affecting my dps now (in terms of GCD waste).

I know exactly what you mean with having to learn how to play with a mouse, and i dont even have a naga. My dps has totally tanked... makes me want to punch my cheap self from 2 years ago who just didnt go by a mouse instead of adapting to play without one, and now that i have it i cant remember how to play with it ... /fail

Still having some problems pushing through normal modes. Our druid Lbanks has been falling behind and is getting dwarfed by 20-30k dps on several fights, even being beaten by tanks. Here's some logs from 4 Norushen normal attempts and some flex galakras to nazgrim kills. Any help would be huge.

I hate to post this here (Because I'm sure the answers are out there), but I can't make my own topics yet and I've hit a bit of a wall and I'm not sure what to do.

Yesterday my guild was attempting Garrosh, and because the comp was so healer heavy (5 healers) I ended up trying my boomkin spec on it. I've been building it for 2-3 weeks now, and I feel like my gear is getting there (I've even managed to get my spell hit under control) but my DPS is just lagging FAR behind EVERY other DPS in the raid, even other healers-turned dps.

My DPS on Garrosh was about . I wasn't necessarily trying to AOE everything down, since we had plenty of that, but I was still far behind every other DPS and even the tanks.

After the raid I went to a training dummy to try out my single target. I still had food buff and a flask, along with my own buff and moonkin aura. I couldn't manage more then 125k dps sustained on the training dummy (140k with all my CDs and some good starsurge procs). My rotation is pretty much what it says on icy veins, start one cast away from lunar, starfall, wraith, pop trinkets and incarnation, dot up, starsurge and starfall when I can, use balance when I run out of eclipse, and then starfall until I hit solar eclipse, ext. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Well Nephrahim, Just by glancing. You are just way behind on gear. That timeless gear does raise your ilvl but its crap gear. You are currently using a healing trinket so that isnt helping and a 496 trink as well. Both of those are holding you back big time. You also don't have any set bonus. I think even the TOT tier 4 set would be better then the timeless gear but I could be wrong. The 4 set SoO gear is huge also. Basically, As long as you are doing your rotation correct, You are just behind due to gear.

Yeah, I was hoping gear would stop holding me back at this point, but I guess that was naive. It's just hard to tell by myself where my low DPS is from my gear, and where it's me just messing stuff up.

At quick glance, He is far over hit cap and way under haste cap. Should be aiming for 10296 haste if his gear allows it (Yes, even better than crit until you reach that number) and 5100 hit (He is about 700 rating over)

I'm falling behind in dps compared to my other guild's boomkin.
I feel like I've got my gear and stats in order, is there something glaringly obvious that I am missing?

I only looked at your longest paragons pulls, however the only difference I see between you two is that you are consistently getting 10-15 less starsurges per fight. You are also getting significantly less Shooting Stars procs every pull (usually 15-20 less) so the only thing I can think of is that the other boomkin is doing a better job of keeping all the paragons dotted, which would make sense because all of his DoT damage is higher per pull than yours. Either that or he is reapplying dots when he gets lucky trinket procs. He is also 3 ilvls better geared than you it seems on armory, so some of that comes from gear alone (Heroic WF immerseus trinket)

I only just started playing my moonkin as a main this expansion so I'm quite new to the class myself. I've been reading up a lot of guides and watching a lot of videos to try and get an overall sense on how to play the class. I think I've doing quite alright and after getting some more gear last week I've finally managed to get competitive dps compared to the other raiders.

Even though I think my dps is alright, I would still love to see if there's anymore improvements to be done so I can maximize my dps. I got the log from last thursday's raid which includes the first three bosses on heroic and sha on normal. I'm always having a bit of trouble dpsing on immerseus because the adds move constantly and I can't seem to get much aoe on them going.

Get him to push haste to 10289 if gear allows and try getting the LMG and Lcloak, other then that im sure its probably a 'rotation' problem

Only glaring problem I see is your starsurge waste. On Protectors it was nearly 50%, which I'm sure could be improved. On sha of pride, the waste was much lower, so I am going to assume that it may have been really lucky (or unlucky) SS procs on Protectors that you couldnt fire off fast enough. You are also slightly above haste cap, but that should fix itself when you get Totem off Shamans.

I dont use a stopcasting macro, however I do use a macro with a cancel queued spell.

Is my starsurge macro. This will make it so that you dont accidentally start a new Starfire or wrath cast if you get a proc.

You also probably have enough gear to start using the Solar Opener.

Icyveins said not to go for next tick if it drops you below a certain amount of crit, which it would for him, and thats the advice he's been following thus far.

2.3. Haste Caps

After reaching 10 ticks (up from 7) with Moonfire Icon Moonfire and Sunfire Icon Sunfire, the value of Haste Rating decreases below that of Critical Strike Rating. This happens when your haste reaches 35.731%. Considering that Balance Druids always benefit from the +5% spell haste raid buff (thanks to Moonkin Form Icon Moonkin Form), and from Nature's Grace Icon Nature's Grace (+15% spell haste) for most of the fight, they need 5,273 Haste Rating to reach that value.

2.3.1. Higher Haste Cap for Higher Level Gear
Reaching 11 ticks with Moonfire Icon Moonfire and Sunfire Icon Sunfire requires 10,289 Haste Rating.

You should only aim for this haste cap if you can still maintain a high amount of Critical Strike Rating. The recommendation of our reviewer is to only go for this haste cap if this does not cause you to drop below 12,000 Critical Strike Rating. If you cannot, then go for the 5,273 haste cap and stack Critical Strike Rating.

This is why I thought it was a rotation thing and posted WoL's, not to mention, getting to haste cap isn't going to jump him 20-30k dps where our other dps are.

hello there dear owl druids! for the first time my guild has decided that it would be more beneficial for me to go boomkin on thok heroic and let the pala tank solo tank it, instead of me in bear.

now, i know all the basics of moonkin, although i do some mistakes here and there. i have read up on some tips and stuffs, but i would be very much apreciated if i could get a better help, specially with my opener, as i cant burst for more then 400 k, which seems like low considering my gear, and my overral dps on a fight also should be higher i believe.

keep in mind for my gear, that im hoping real hard that ill get immerseus trinket this week, also got hc warforged head from sha of pride to use but i dont think its worth loosing the 4 set? could upgrade it to 580 ilvl, but really unsure if the dps boost from one piece is higher to compensate for loosing the 4 set.. i was planing on getting the gloves tier (hc/flex whatever droped) and using the head so i kept the 4 set.

anyways, any tips are welcome!

p.s forgot to mention, that i have never played boomkin in any kind of progression tier, i have been collecting gear for the lols and trying it out on solo crap and for fun. so if you have any tip, any sugestion that is obvious to you who has played boomkin for real, but that i probably have no clue, please post it here and let me know about it, im a fast learner

I know i could optimise gems a little better but my gear was up till recently changing so frequently and im low on gold. (Pants unenchanted from last night as well)


I realise my trinket choice is odd but my only other dps trinket is the 522 shadopan and i figured this was probably better.

I find that i can just barely scrape 165k dps on target dummies (MOTW, unflasked no food).

well I would say its good but yeah as u said its only good in the cases where u need to kill multiple targets

You should never use it if you still struggle on a fight because you lose damage on the targets that matter like atual dmg on galakras in the burn. But whenever there's talk of using it nobody really shows some parses.

How does the solar opener work? I've been using one-cast-from-Lunar since I switched back to FoN/HotW from Inc/DoC.

Thanks for the insight on that trinket. Yeah his damage is sick and he did quite a bit with the trinket. I am in a 10 man also and also on the ground. Problem with my guild is that we don't really go out of our way to make 1 guy parse so the DPS is pretty competitive. I guess I will just play with it and give it a shot. Right now I'm trying to use it on spoils progression but I start on the mantid side ;_;. Anyways thanks for the reply.
