    SSD Refurb?

I'll usually trust a refurbished or re certified platter drive... but I am not too sure about an SSD...

    Looking at this:

Looking for second opinions, but I'm not sure it would be a good idea. Otherwise, my other choice is a 120GB OCZ Solid 3, which is pricier and unfortunately has a stupid rebate on it.

It's just for my netbook, so nothing imperative will ever be stored on it. If there's a cheaper ~120GB SSD of the previous generation somewhere, I'd opt for that too.

    Thoughts! Go!

    I don't know, I wouldn't do it personally, although it's tempting because it's cheap.

Crucial is great and you said you weren't going to put much on it, you could get:

Or the 128GB version, which is obviously more expensive:

I'd go for the Corsair over the OCZ.

Also, Crucial > all, and if you can find the M4 128gb there's nothing like it

Yeah the M4 is 200 dollars though. And this is going in an E-350 system, so the transfer speeds won't be game breaking on it. Mostly want it to reduce weight, save power and be able to throw it around without damaging a platter drive.

Also, I just went ahead with the refurb. Chances are it was a recall and was never used anyway.

Buy a SATA II one from a different company, why would you buy an OCZ? You know better Asera! :P

The stupid thing is.. all 120gb gen2 SSD's I've found are the same price as the current gen3's...

Also, I got the Corsair one, not the OCZ one.

Its probably one of the recalled Force 3 drives that had stability issues when the line was first released. It only has a 30 day warranty, so I dunno if I would risk it at that price. I've seen plenty of decent new 120-128GB SSDs go on sale for ~$1.00 per GB. If you're patient, I'm sure you'll find a better deal.

I picked up two of the Force 60GB refurb drives a little while ago. One for my netbook, one for games for my desktop. Both died about two weeks ago (about 15 days outside of the warranty).

Don't buy refurb. Just save up and get a proper drive. If this is for a lower-powered system, just get one of the Kingston V100+ 64GB drives. Unless you're installing games on it, it should be plenty.
