The EQ thread made me think of this. I would like an answer because to me it seems obvious but it must not be because it keeps happening.

The most important part of WoW that always see missing in other games is control and UI. Moving around the world and interacting with it is fun. Jumping, swimming, looting... all feels nice. Then I play most MMOs made in the last 8 or so years and wonder why they copied these things from EQ and not WoW.

I really like EQ, FFXI and GW but all of them feel weird. It seems odd to me that the most natural feeling game (to me anyway) is the game that looks the most like a cartoon. Its almost like they take the controls from an FPS and slap them in a RPG then setup everything to be played in third person. I am 100% certain if any console game was made that used that control style and put me in third person I would quit in a few minutes.

Of all the MMOs I have played it is the one thing WoW has that really stands out to me as something Blizzard created.

So... Why does every MMO copy the wrong parts of WoW?
