So i've done some research in the last couple of days and im pretty sure this processor will work on my motherboard. Here is my MOBO, http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...ctID=c01701270 and here is the processor, http://www.amazon.com/AMD-Phenom-Soc...pr_product_top im almost postive that it will work but i just wanna make sure before i go out and buy it. Thanks for any help.

You should be fine. Your computer may require a BIOS update when you get the new processor though. Mobos on prebuilts can be a bit tricky sometimes.

I don't think it will work considering about halfway down the page:

"NOTE: Only socket AM2+ processors are supported with this motherboard."

I wouldn't buy the Phenom II 840 anyway. It's actually an Athlon II that they put the Phenom name on. What CPU do you have right now?

Also, pacapaca, many AM2+ motherboards support AM3 CPUs with a BIOS update. For instance, on HP's website it states the computer supports Phenom II X3 and X4 chips.
    Super casual.
