    Windows MBR

    Hi!

    I'll explain shortly what happened.

I installed Ubuntu on a new partition on my harddrive, didn't like it so I booted in to Windows 7 and deleted the partitions. I figured I could use the original Windows 7 dvd to restore the MBR - because without Grub, I can't boot in to anything - but the Windows 7 dvd keeps bitchin' about not being compatible with the currently installed Windows version when I try to go to the recovery tools (to perform a startup repair or use the command prompt). -.-'

So, my question is; How do I fix this? How do I restore the Windows MBR so that can boot in to Windows 7? Cause I'm pretty much f*cked right now.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    You can use either

    http://www.supergrubdisk.org/rescatux/
    or
    http://www.supergrubdisk.org/categor...bdiskdownload/

to restore the Windows MBR. Had the same problem myself a year or so ago and used supergrubdisk to restore my Windows MBR. Just burn it to a disk and boot from disk, select the prompt for windows mbr and it should fix it.

Thanks, I'll try that out right now.

Wow, I told you. Virtualbox would've saved you from all this effort. Anyway, as I said in the other topic, you need your windows installation disk. Boot from it, select recovery, then open a command prompt. Type bootrec /fixmbr and you're done.
