Also gear in GW2 is 2nd rated and not a big thing...there will be minor bonuses but as far as that...so the only gear grind will be either if you are a MIN/MAXER and want that +1 str or +1 dex since you wont be able to have such a great difference from another player.The only gear grind will be for LOOKS only.So no pvp fights against season 10000000 vs season 2 geared people.if you can handle the pressure and have the skill its up to you to beat the TOP DOGS

In arena pvp you will be getting to MAX level and have access TO EVERYTHING skill wise and gear wise in order to play
so if you have an arena team and don't want to run around and do stuff you team up,enter quee and boom PVP with not advantage beyond your skill(or the class balance but no one knows yet about that staff so... :P
In Battleground pvp its like arena in term of gear and skills BUT you have some things that you need to do like capture points etc.Also you will have the option to destroy environments and open alternative paths in the zone,the example given is the CLOCK TOWER where people rush to capture some points BUT there are also 2 TREBUCHET one in EACH TEAM BASE and people might want to man them and shoot with them.if a building is destroyed and have a capture point that point will vanish(the clock tower point for instance :P )and if you have a wall that blocks a passage and someone destroy it then you have a new path to take in order to go to places in the map,also players will be able to make private servers in the game(think an FPS style of servers inside GW2)where they will be able to have an open invitation to anyone or put locks and passes so only people that know them will be able to enter and play against them.
WvWvW pvp in that type you have a conflict between 3 servers in a place called MISTS,which is a place that connects different dimensions,if people used to play DND in the old days,its something like the fog in RAVEN-LOFT that connects different worlds,anyway in that zone there will be 4 zones
1 for every server and one zone in the midle,in every server zone players will be able to build fortresses and will have to defend their places against the others,from what i have read there will be PVE objects too...for instance if the other server attacks the mines that power with iron the forts then people will have to take them back in order to open the supply lines again and keep the flow of ore coming and other things like that.Finally the battle will be lasting for 2 weeks at the end of the 2 weeks a winner will be emerging(no sure how at the moment,i suppose with a total annihilation type or something)and the game will be teaming you up with 2 other servers in order to go against them(i suppose there will be a ranking system too so you wont end up with the TOP PVP server in GW2 for instance)the winning server will be getting a BIG PVE buff for the next 2 weeks till the next battle ends,i haven't understood how will leveling will work there or gear BUT i suppose you will be leveling normally there too...and since each level will be needing around 90mins after a certain level end game will come pretty fast
From what i have heard about GW2 this game basically will be 2 in 1.1 for PVE and 1 for PVP and since the gear is not a thing of great need the only thing those games will have in common will be class balance and the fact that you will be able to hop from PVP to PVE asap
