In the Wrath of the Lich King board game, players control one of Azeroth’s heroes and fight their way through the Scourge to reach the throne of fallen Prince Arthas, now feared throughout Azeroth as the terrifying Lich King. Adventure across the frozen continent of Northrend, take on quests, battle monstrous entities, and more to retake Azeroth from the Lich King.
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King - A Pandemic System Board Game includes:
The Pandemic system with familiar mechanics and gameplay, now tweaked to embrace the World of Warcraft universe.
An extra-large game board featuring forts, temples, battlegrounds and iconic locations native to Azeroth.
Legendary World of Warcraft characters with detailed and sculpted plastic figures, including Thrall, the Warchief of the Horde; Varian Wrynn, King of Stormwind; and Sylvanas Windrunner, Banshee Queen of the Forsaken.
Quests, a brand-new mechanic to Pandemic that sees players adventuring across Northrend to battle monstrous entities, destroy evil relics, and more.
Hero Cards that give players an edge against their enemies in the form of equipment for more attack power during combat, special mounts that allow players to move more spaces on their turn, healing potions to restore hit points, and much more.

Late april joke? Or just the reality of non-gamers being in charge of development whos only talent is finance?
Wait? Do you honestly think the creation of this board game took development time away from WoW? Like Seriously? This isn't even the first time Blizzard has licensed their IP to board games. There was even one released prior to WoW being released.
I think we've had enough pandemics for another century but thanks.
Yeah.... I was thinking "whyyyy would you name it that while our current pandemic is still kind of ongoing...?"

Even gathering to play with others is a non issue. You could still play virtual though it would take a dedicated "Game Master" to move control the stuff for everyone else playing.
Dude literally most people didn't know that was a board game like, ever. I didn't and neither did others in this thread. So to us, yeah, it seems like pretty bad taste before we learn that factoid.

That is why you inform yourself before having a knee jerk reaction.
60 dollar is a pretty decent price. That equates to ~51 euro. Not to bad. Then I check the EU gearstore and guess what. 75 euro. Thats a little over 88 dollars. An almost 30 dollar price hike for no real reason.
Gotta love living in Europe. I was actually looking forward to this boardgame back when it was revealed a month or so ago. I love pandemic, its a great game but boy is 75 euro to much for a pandemic version.
The only similarity is that they are also board games.
Modern board games have evolved a lot since Monopoly and Risk came out - they tend to play faster and with less downtime, have more interesting choices, be less luck-based, better balanced, and overall just more interesting and fun.
There's an entire community around them and plenty of content creators that create great "how to play" videos on the most varied board games, which will most likely happen for this game. I definitely recommend exploring the world of modern board games, lots of fun stuff out there.

Just like it is insensitive to have "War" in your game title when millions of people have died because of war, right?

It is pretty funny to see people saying it is expensive... meanwhile they are willing to buy in-game mount for half of that price, LOL.
Anything between 50-100$ is pretty standard in board games world... expecially if it has got official licence.
Yeah, I don't want the game but I wouldn't mind having some of the hero miniatures.
What really bugs me about this is they are actually quality prints. The ability to make cheap, quality prints has always been there and this is the only way to get them.

I mean I ultimately wasn't gonna go on a campaign or something. It was just a "wtf" moment that I probably would've forgot about in a f ew minutes because it's just a board game.
