Items and Rewards

  • Shards of Domination
    • [With weekly maintenance in each region] Blood Link – The damage and healing amount has been increased at all ranks by 20%.
    • [With weekly maintenance in each region] Winds of Winter – The amount of damage and healing stored by the Winds has been increased at all ranks by ~45%.
      • Developers’ note: The difference between the three Rune Words for the Shards of Domination system is bigger than we want it to be. We have identified and fixed a bug in Winds of Winter which was preventing some damaging and healing abilities from counting towards its total, and we have retuned Winds of Winter and Blood Link so that the relative power between Rune Word bonuses is more balanced.
  • Jotungeirr, Destiny’s Call will now reset its cooldown at the end of boss encounters.
  • Fixed an issue where Ticking Sack of Terror could trigger more than intended in the presence of multiple trinkets.

Spit Emote Removed on TBC Classic PTR
The /spit emote has been removed on the Burning Crusade Classic PTR. Players can no longer target others with the emote, however they can still spit on the ground.

It is speculated that this change is a result of people spamming /spit on players riding the Reawakened Phase-Hunter mount, the reward for purchasing the Burning Crusade Deluxe Edition.

Lead Game Designer Jeremy Feasel tweeted that he's having a look at cleaning up toxicity in the game, so this could be one of many changes to come.

Nobody would have removed it if people had not overused it. People installing an addon to pretty much auto /spit on some people is a step too far and if you can't see that you are part of the problem.

Yeah, I chuckled about that too.

I'd argue that killing ones avatar at the end of their long escort quest or razing their powerful buffs has faaar greater consequences on them than just reading "xxx is spitting on you" in chat... but... what do I know?

Are people really talking about "emotional damage" and "lasting consequences" for getting spit on in a fucking video game?

If a line of pre-written text you can easily ignore and move on bothers you so much, I can't imagine you can survive a single 5 man pug wirhout breaking down in tears.

The WoW community, no the Blizzard community, is toxic as hell and removing a stupid emote won't fix that and is in my eyes nothing more than a desperate attempt to save face in the current lawsuit situation
Such a garbage take. So since there are always bigger problems we should never bother to take care of any smaller ones ever then.

What does this have to do with Asmongold?

If they don't end up with Step 4 this game will always have toxicity issues. Removing the spit emote will change NOTHING.
There should be an option for 100% solo play.

As well as an option for 100% group play.

and an option for a mix of both.

But locking the best gear and progression behind either one is dumb, there should always be options

Personally i want more Gear & progression to be available in the blizz store as part of the "Solo" option.

Or maby release solo versions of the raid.

There just need to be more ways to get the heroic & Mythic ilvls and gear without actually doing group content.

    More options please

I mean you can still /fart on them. And this is why removing /spit was a bad idea. These are all meaningless emotes on their own. The intention comes from outside that manifests in these emotes. If someone starts to /kiss or /hug people it can become harassing the same way as /spit does if it has the background meaning.

This change is like going to the doctor to get an ultrasound sound of your baby before aborting it.

Here's how I see it. Imagine trying to solve a house fire with a single glass of water when the arsonist is already busy setting the neighbouring houses on fire.

You need to take care of the arsonist if you really want to change anything.

On the other hand, I also think that restricting everyone so that a very small group who can't handle an emote in a game doesn't have their feelings hurt is a bit too much.

Also is Muffinus really trying to grift off this situation to sell T-shirt’s? Fuck let’s see BLM show up next so Patrisse can buy another house.

There should never be a thing that makes any ones "Feelings hurt" why can't we just be decent to each other?

Wasn't a fan of the emote, but cmon, its part of classic. What's next?

    Because we are humans.
No matter how civilized and developed we have become, one thing always repeated itself, which is humans attacking humans.

It sucks, but it is what it is.

Maybe they should invest in a better report and suspension system in their games.
Or at the very least, take a look at those reports every now and then.

Removing a meaningless emote is not gonna do shit in regards to battling toxicity.

Low effort, performative bullshit once again.

That being said, I don't think we should stop trying, but a two-faced company like Blizzard, fixing a spit emote in the wake of a lawsuit on a decade spanning history of sexual harassment and misogyny, in a game thats entire lore is based on conflict, just to save face, is a bit shady, don't you think?

A game that is focused on highlighting performance will inevitably become toxic, /spit or no /spit.
  1. deviantcultist's Avatar
This is embarrassing. Unironically "toxic" emotes such as /spit were part of the Classic experience - like it or not. Didn't know #somechanges included woke shenanigans.
