How is the name "iconic"? Tracer is the closest to an iconic name in the game.

The game has been out for almost 6 years and he was part of the OG cast. Honestly, at release, blizzard did such a good job of connecting people with the characters that all of the OG characters are iconic and any name change would feel weird af. After almost 6 years of calling this character mc Cree nobody is just suddenly going to start calling him Pedro or w.e the fuck they have planned. It's not like they just released sojourn for example and a couple months later decide to change her name. This is a character that existed since the beginning of the game and has established lore and identity. Not to mention he is one of the most popular characters in the game.

And the lore has implied his name isn't really Jesse McCree.

And that doesn't prove it is "iconic"

So what exactly makes an iconic name for you if not what I mentioned ?

When I think iconic Overwatch name, the only character that fits that description is Tracer.
Tracer is the cover character. Tracer has appeared in more CGI trailers/scenes than any other character.
Tracer is explicitly involved in 2 of the 3 anniversary stories (being her first mission, and as mission led).

Just because something was a part of something for a long time doesn't suddenly grant it iconic status. All it means it has been around for a long time.

You do understand that the game character Jesse McCree was named in honor of a real life human being, Jesse McCree, who Blizzard no longer wants to be associated with.

    Right?
