Patch 9.1.5 - Old Starter Gear Availability
Patch 9.1.5 introduces new Starting Gear Armor Sets, replacing the old starter gear from Vanilla zones. If you're interested in collecting the items before the patch goes live on November 2, Simaia has created a spreadsheet that covers all common gear from different classes and races.

If you don't wanna bother making alts and storing all that common gear in the bank, there are some good news though. Blizzard has announced that they're working on making the old starter gear available in the future.

Please don’t worry that any original starter gear might go away forever or become very rare.

We’re working on making all of those various older starter pieces available to players who want to obtain them.

Watch as the starter sets will become BoP and available on Blizzard store for only $4.99/set.

I'm glad Blizzard is planning to make the items available later. the constant removal of items always made me want to play less.

My only problem with that is they said at the start of the expansion they would fix the WoD Crafting sets but haven't yet and Stage 1-4 each have a different appearance. SO who knows how long it'll take for them to put these items on a quest or vendor. Though it'd be easier to just make it so either A) All Common quality gear can be transmogged [Best Solution] or B) Make it so starter gear is uncommon quality.

They keep making new problems for themselves to fix. No wonder they take so long to release meaningful content compared to their competitors.

Blizzard planning on making them available in future = Patch 14.1.5: We have added some legacy starter gear to a new vendor.

Both are viable solutions and I agree.

If Blizz truly want to start showing the people they're listening to feedback actively (i.e not changing things now that have been complained about for over 1 year) then they should not be putting these starting changes through.

It is a terrible idea. It doesn't fit the majority of the races, and we are actually losing a sense of race / class uniqueness based on what you choose at the start. Apart from that they just look awful any way.

This is proof to me that Blizzard actually are still unable to listen to feedback even over things as mundane and pointless as this.

Will that include old pre-cata starters too?

    1. I can't believe people are complaining about this. The new sets look better. It's an improvement on the game. Especially for brand new players.

    2. I can't believe people are complaining about the removal of the old sets. This is gear we've been vendoring for 1 copper for years on all of our alts, and now all of a sudden we want to save it?

All that this changes to is that races lose their last of flavour as they all lose more and more culture until all the races are just a blubber, bland generic mess where the only thing that's different are their looks.
More customizations? My ass. Blizzard is lazy as fuck. They're just giving every race a bland, generic human outfit.

Worst update, because no one fucking asked for this.

May just be more a sense of completion. For me it is anyway, but I'm not going to go though all the rigmarole of making new alts just to stockpile sets.

Is this similar as to how they promised they were making sure the upgraded version of the WoD crafted gear would be made available in the future as well, as those were unique transmogs?

People are complaining because they are removing things when they shouldn't. If they want to change something fine, but place it elsewhere.
Secondly, the new sets are class specific and have nothing to do with races. So a lot of players, especially role players, will find that it is weird that every single race gets the same starting gear instead of something that resembles their race.

Except people have been complaining for years about them removing gear that shouldn't be removed. Or have you missed all the complaining that especially came up around Cataclysm when they started removing different sets and mogs?

Yikes. I honestly can't believe people are complaining about this.

Goes to show how entitled and whiny the current playerbase is.

I, personally, do not mind the new updated sets. They're a bit on the bland side, but I suppose that's the whole idea behind starter gear. Gotta look like someone who has barely a copper to their name, really. Kinda ruins the immersion if everyone starts the game looking like they've got Gorehowl just hanging against their back.

That said... I really wish the new armor sets were at least faction-specific. Race-specific would be the best outcome, IMO.

But it always have been this way, no? White dress for priests, blue dress for mages, red for warlocks?
