Shards of Domination Disabled in Patch 9.2 Eternity's End

Our plan, which we’re currently working on bringing to the PTR, is to disable Shards of Domination in Zereth Mortis, the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid, and all PvP and dungeons, starting with the Eternity’s End content update.

In this scenario, Shards of Domination would still work as before in previous Shadowlands zones, the Maw, the Sanctum of Domination raid, and Torghast.

We’ll update our Eternity’s End development notes with this, as soon as we get it implemented.

basically everyone knew this was going to happen as soon as they announced it and then addressed that it would be happening literally months ago. The real joke is people being surprised by this now

You have to be extra dull to take anything Blizzard says at face value at this point. What ends up in the game is the pudding.

Simply having an opinion doesn't mean you're entitled, you probably shouldn't use words you don't know the meaning of.

your brain must be pudding, ultra-smooth, if you're upset that they told you exactly what they were going to do and then it surprised you enough to upset you when they did it.

What gave you the impression I was upset? I'm quite amused by the hole they keep digging for themselves. Who wants to participate in systems that will be completely invalid, null and void, as good as never having existed in 6 months?

What do you think tier sets were/are?

To be fair Blizzard is doing everything in their power to make the length of a patch match the old length of an expansion.

or maybe blizz shouldn't make gimmicky systems that can only reasonably last one patch...

How is the shards system any different to tier sets? Tier sets are used for a patch then you get a new tier set in the next patch. That’s the same thing; tier sets are borrowed power and they’ve been done since day 1 but nobody complained about them did they

Literally not. This is like having a tier set and it not working when a new patch releases. Never been like that.

A more important question is do players want it to work?

Do you want to use a SoD item in your SotFO BiS gear set? Do you want to have alts go back to do SoD for it?

Maybe people do and this would keep old content relevant for them?

Which is wrong and not how hte game originally worked.

You see, they keep fucking up, and then they fuck up from the previous fck up. And they simply never, ever learn.

Not exactly but it’s not like you held onto the gear anyway when you got the new tier sets. If anything this is less restrictive; back in the day if you got an upgrade that was non tier but replaced a tier piece then you couldn’t equip it because you’d break the tier set. Not the case this time round, getting an upgrade and replacing a domination gear means you won’t lose out

just having new gear not have dom sockets + nerfing any % scaling gems should they be too good >>> disabling them on day1 of new content.

like for real if it's about man hours or something, both of those options are pretty minimal.

ironically that is the strength of dom sockets compared to set bonusses. it's not all of nothing, you get a bit of power even if you don't meet the set bonus requirements.

if they didn't have the double whammy RNG of needing both socketed gear and the gems to drop i think the dom socket bonus system itself would have been pretty well received. (and if they then also made it affect your rotation instead of just some passive bonus, it might have been a smash hit even.)

The problem lies with this as a "replacement" for tier sets. If I can still get my 4-piece and have 1-2 shards, it's going to essentially be locked in as BiS.

If they just hadn't removed tier sets and we had the option of getting the 4-set or double 2-sets, this wouldn't have been an issue.

not really, you need spefic sockets to use those dom sockets, we wont be using those domination pieces any longer, i kind of saw it coming

Shards are not very exciting, but I am so sick and tired of every patch completely devaluing all my stuff.

Fuck that. Everything you do in this game is a waste of time, just wait until the final patch, subscribe for a month and it's all the same. All sense of progression is lost.

    Bad game design.
