Coming Later This Year: Shadowlands Season 4

Later this year, after the current season has run for a typical duration, we’re planning to conclude Season 3 and begin Shadowlands Season 4, a fresh take on what a season of WoW might include.

In Shadowlands Season 4, your PvP efforts will reward you with a new higher tier of PvP gear along with other Season rewards, such as mounts and titles. We’re planning for the highest ranking title to be Eternal Gladiator, a fitting capstone for your Shadowlands PvP accomplishments.

We’re excited to announce that we’re going to shake things up in Mythic+ and raiding in Season 4. We’d like to change up the Mythic+ dungeon pool so that it would include 8 dungeons that span the last four expansions of WoW:

  • Tazavesh: Streets of Wonder
  • Tazavesh: So’leah’s Gambit
  • Operation Mechagon: Junkyard
  • Operation Mechagon: Workshop
  • Return to Karazhan: Lower
  • Return to Karazhan: Upper
  • And two dungeons from Warlords of Draenor

To that end, we’ve started a community poll where you’ll help us decide which two Draenor dungeons are included in the Season 4 Mythic+ rotation. You can click here to vote to select two dungeons from among: Auchindoun, Bloodmaul Slag Mines, Everbloom, Grimrail Depot, Shadowmoon Burial Grounds, Skyreach, and Upper Blackrock Spire.

For Season 4 raiding, we’re imagining adding a progenitor-themed affix system to infuse some new mechanical twists into Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones. Our intention here would be to make all three raids relevant in Season 4, with increased difficulty and more powerful levels of raid loot dropping throughout all of them.

Feel free to reply here and let us know what you think of these experiments, and we’ll have more details on all of this for you soon. Also, please vote for your preferred Warlords of Draenor dungeons.

Thank you!

As an addendum:
There will be no Hall of Fame for Season 4. We’re not looking to position this as a competitive event.

No no, they won't balance anything around the fact that they're making an entire season around it. The WoD dungeon mobs will also have the same base damage and will automatically one shot you at +20 no matter what.

I swear some people don't even think.

Seems awesome for me! I dont know why people are against this, its better and more interesting than having just an extra long season 3 by adding some fun towards the end of the expansion. Im all for this!

So many people complaining, they could just.... do nothing and give us a full 12 month drought while they work on the next expansion.

It hasn't even been announced yet, that's still just under a month away. Looking at at least 8-10 months from that.

    Not looking good.

Most of the parts of Shadowlands I have access to are now done.... so I guess casual pet/mount farming in ZM for the next year

Well - given dungeon and raids are off the menu until 10.0, this news is just confirmation that 10.0 is a LONG way away.

cool news, but man that means it'll be a while till 10.0 . Those raiding changes are super risky though. can be good or can be one of the biggest flops

April Fools come early? I do not want to do older content again. There is hardly enough time to do ONE raid at a time much less all of them at once. They would need to significantly nerf the content to allow it all to be done in a week. All of this sounds awful

    This would be preferrable

If you would prefer no content at all for 12+ months then... just don't play it?

OH fucking confirmed lmao. We're gonna be stuck on shadowlands for a WHILE

this actually sounds cool and better than the usual content droughts

Well, that doesn't bode well for the next expansion.

Im gonna laugh at the inevitabily of guilds breaking up from fighting over which raid to do or burnout from doing them over and over

My first thought too.. Just put us and Shadowlands out of its misery. It's been drawn out too long. Dx

I guess you could read the news in a different way, probably like "we are sorry shadowlands is going to take THIS long to end so we decided to throw a new season to keep you subbed, I mean busy".

given the choice between getting a rushed mess of a next expansion, a long content drought or this little shake-up I think they've actually made a good choice. have to see how it plays out of course, but it sounds interesting

Alternative for said guilds is usually farming the final raid of the expansion once per week for until x.0 releases. This gives those folks more variety, not less.

Fighting over where to go sounds fun, though

That's just the thing, it will just be an extra long season 3 but called season 4 because they throw in some old dungeons.

Looking forward to get another S1 mount ... but in PINK!

I think the next expansion is coming in a year regardless. Most final tiers last 9-12 months, so instead of nothing changing at all in there period of time we get a dungeon change up and a twist on the raid for the last few months.

    What’s wrong with that?

It’s better to just keep farming the same content for a year like most end of expansion tiers?
