Blizzard - Renown 80 Boost Feedback

We do feel it is important that players returning to the game after a lengthy break, or players that switch to a new character, are able to participate in relevant activities in a reasonable amount of time. This did become more challenging as the expansion progressed so The Broker Mark of Distinction was introduced to jump players to Renown 40. This provided a catch-up for Renown without supplementing a character’s progression, similar to gear rewards from quests in new zones.

As we continued to monitor discussions, we’ve seen how one of the most important steps to reach is Renown 60 as that is when all traits are unlocked for all three Soulbinds (from there it is mainly the enhancements that are unlocked). We feel that being able to more easily reach that level of Renown will create a balance between contributing to the most current content and having room for growth on an individual character. Additionally, we want the path to Renown 80 to have a bit more clarity, especially for characters that have already completed the Covenant campaign questlines.

To help achieve this, we plan to make the following changes in 9.2.5:
  • The Broker Mark of Distinction will increase the Renown of your currently active Covenant to 60, up from 40
  • Renown catch-up is accelerated through Renown 60, up from 48
  • These activities will now have a 100% chance to reward 1 Renown upon completion:
  • Mythic and Mythic+ dungeons
  • Torghast Layers 9-16
  • Defeating a Shadowlands raid boss encounter
  • Winning a Rated Battleground

Thank you for your feedback!

The Broker marks have always been BoA.

I think at this point it's more of a "it's BASICALLY free, so why isn't it ACTUALLY free?" kind of deal.

Yeah it's super easy to get to 80, but why do we need to do it at all then? Why even have that hoop, if it's clear that hoops aren't the intent. All it does is minorly annoy people - so why is it there?

    We are playing classic :P

MY opinion would be to just wipe it all. Hope next xpack doesn´t create the problem to start with...

Might just need to wait awhile longer.
Thanks for sharing this with us. See you in 10.0 /sigh

I mean I don't know about you but if I were to start a game my mind is "I'm going to play a game" not "how do I find a way to make this game more enjoyable"

Most new players would rather quit then chock money at some booster to carry them through content

    Or to answer your question

    Whales are gonna whale

Why wait with the renown skip!! Just patch it in already! Making us wait for 9.2.5 as people would be looking forward to this.
My opinion here is if you wanna keep your players happy, and want them to play your game longer with gametime, make it worth their time.
so basicly easyer on alts. make it as alt friendly as you can. Way to many hurdles to take, playing an alt isnt even fun anymore.
Where renown is prob one of the least of its problems.

Come on blizz STEP UP! Fix your game now,. not in 9.2.5!

There should be Enlightened (and Archivists, if they mind. Yes, I know there's already a BOA but since its a rep from a past patch, they should increase it) reputation catchup for alts too. The BOA item to increase Archivists' rep gain is ok.

At this point in the expansion if we already have a character that is renown level 80 can we just purchase a token for that covenant that will boost an alt for that same covenant to 80. Making the current boost go from 40 - 60 at this point seems a little redundant.

Why not just go straight to 80? What's the value in having it go to 60 instead and then forcing you to run trivial content to "grind" the rest out?

Blizz has a very hard time with 'optional content' as a concept, because everything currently is designed to keep you in the game as long as possible. Under that design philosophy, there is no real optional content in their minds (nor consideration for making it worthwhile, i.e. fun or engaging, to do it a second time beyond being forced to)... until the players get really upset and start leaving the game. So the resulting changes we get always seem like Blizz trying to give the impression that they're hearing the players and understand what we want, but their pride will never allow them to fully admit they were wrong or that their philosophy may be wrong. This is also how you get some really gaslight-like blue posts that shift the blame everywhere except where it should be. Furthermore, this is how we always seem to have the same discussion every patch/expansion like we have now.
WHy should they admit to something they do not believe. YOu thinking they are wrong is not fact. What you really want is for them to admit you are right. They don't believe they are wrong, so there is nothing for them to admit.

Nope, I'm glad for this. Came back after a while not being interested in Korthia, now with all the anima catch up I'm trying to get some of the old covenant stuff so this is helping a lot since the secondary gift currency that you buy some of the pets/mounts with is still not BOA so I can use these to really easily boost renown up after cov switching.
