I mean, let's be honest, we'll probably see a lot of people playing the same handful of classes (at absolute most) for the leveling and ground race challenges, unless they explicitly restrict both.

True im guessing classes with great mobility for leveling as they will have a huge advantage.

Hosting a levelling race on live servers with "WoW Celebrity" contestants is just asking for disaster, it's going to be absolutely bombed by thousands of players who want nothing more than to disrupt everything and anything. I'll be surprised if they get past level 3.

Game developers making their own decisions instead of doing what players ask for is good. If they always did what the players want there would be chaos. No leveling, max ilvl gear from world quests, classes always getting buffed instead of nerfed to be in line and who knows what else. All these have been suggestions from players.

To be fair, I kind of want Blizzard to give in to community pressure and just put every single design decision they make up for polling. The resulting shit show would be so fucking glorious that it'd be worth seeing the game eat itself alive just to prove unequivocally how profoundly stupid the idea is.

No, we didn't. But we don't own the game. Blizzard does. So they can do what they want.

Fucking ridiculous comment. This will have been designed and planned for by a marketing team, which has absolutely nothing to do with the developers beyond maybe an email/slack message to their team leader/manager along the lines of "hey if we do x will that completely break anything". No one who buffs or nerfs classes or works on the art or encounter design for new raids or any of the writers will have been involved at all, and I honestly feel more dumb every single time I read shit takes like this on this forum.

Some of you are so utterly clueless about how anything in real life actually works and yet so confident about your opinions that you post them in public.

I highly doubt that it was the devs who came up with this idea. It's a unique one that's for sure, appeals to a very different crowd than the M+ tournaments. I like they're trying new things.

They can't be dumb enough to make it on live servers... as amusing as it would be to see all the offensively named characters be created and gms shitting their pants this has to be closed servers.

The PDF with the rules mention a Contest realm (under #2 "Entering the Contest."), though. I'm not sure where you're getting live realms from? But it sounds like there would be more players than just the contestants that will have access to the contest realm?

Anyway, I guess I'll watch this after the fact, since it's 2am CET (I think?) and I'll be sleeping with a much more important day on the 25th.

it specifically says live realms. I guess people take that as meaning just a general realm, and not a live contest realm. it has to be the latter, if it was the former you would absolutely get people in there griefing the shit out of them.

All i could find in that PDF were "Contest Realm", not "Live Realm", so I dunno. Anyway, I bet you're right that it's restricted access to certain players and not free for anyone to troll.

There have to be full spectrum of community from positive to negative feedback.
    From Retail and from Classic.
If they will keep picking only shills like T&E this won't last long.
Also GL making this on live servers, LOL.

NA only? How can they pull this? What about Europe? Asia? Oceania?

Everything today is about including everyone. No wonder why the company's reputation goes down the shitter, and everything talks about woke culture and LHBT.

Oceania is combined with NA so we should be able to join, just fyi. but yeah it is a bit weird that they don't have a EU or Asia one
