It's funny because one of max's excuses for why they lost the race was because the raid went longer than 2 weeks.

I know, I was just poking fun at how lucrative these drops are becoming and how Blizzard seemingly cares almost nothing about who/what counts towards the drops.

Maybe I should start a warcraft stream and on twitch drop day do a River City Ransom Speedrun

Doesn't have to be related at all. Could just be them more aggressively milking the RWF - it's a community event, but Blizzard's support for it has been increasing over time. This doesn't seem too far out as a next step. Just good business to get eyes where you can, even if your product is doing well (though I'm not saying it is or isn't, because I have no idea).

Honestly I still don't believe the Race gets them a lot of new eyes.

Non wow players will look at that and have no fucking clue what's going on. Most former wow players aren't gonna start up again just because of a new raid (if anything the more complex mechanics have been a turnoff for some players) and they aren't getting more money off current players and if anything might be losing money with the sponsorships

Exposure is worth more than its weight in gold. Potential players will navigate to twitch's homepage and see that the game is routinely garnering viewership in the hundreds of thousands and think to themselves "oh guess the game isn't dead yet," then potentially purchase the game to try it out. It's why MAUs are considered a more accurate statistic for engagement because it accounts for how much any individual person has interacted with a property and is therefore able to be marketed towards. In this late stage capitalist hellscape we currently reside, brands and marketing reach are the most important metrics to determine an IP's longterm success.

That's how Twitch drops works, unless it's a special event and they specifically designate certain streamers to count (which would be a little bit of a hassle to specifically do that for everything)

I know you are just poking fun at Blizzard, but overall it's a bit funny how outraged the community is getting on these. Even with the Feldrake promotion most data sources are showing that the amount of people who have them is still relatively low. Like one figure I saw on Feldrake was like 1.53% to 1.69% while another shows 2%. Which just goes to show even basically handing it out free most don't care enough to get it.

Now the two new ones (minus firework) those were store mounts but looks like numbers were low on even those.

In the past they put the effort into rewards to atleast recolor them.
Guess blizzard really dont care anymore and now just put rewards in the game they once removed or think people dont have yet.

On the one hand it pleases me that morons that absurdly overpay for such bullshit have some proper perspective (perhaps even sense) drilled into them, on the other cooperation with Amazon annoys me.

Won't bother either way.

Funnily enough, you can still do that for the mount and pet, which is probably what everyone wants. The only time you have to watch specific channels is for the fireworks.
