You’ll be able to experience this new feature soon on the PTR.

Shop at the Trader’s Corner

A new set of traders will be moving their wares into the capital cities of Stormwind and Orgrimmar—T&W (Tawny and Wilder) and Zen’shiri Trading Posts. You’ll find T&W just outside of the Mage District in Stormwind and the Zen’shiri Trading Post next to Grommash Hold in Orgrimmar. Our trader friends have pulled out all the stops and have set up their shop so you can view the new items of the month prominently on display right at their shop. They’ll have transmogs on mannequins, pets at their feet, and mounts secured in their stable. Speak to the traders to see this month’s wares.

A Home for Creative Cosmetics

There are a multitude of interesting transmog, pet, and mount possibilities in Azeroth, limited only by imagination. The Trading Post will serve as a home for many more items from across Azeroth— and beyond—and is not limited by the current game content. You can expect to see a variety of fun new items to add to your collection.

Opening the possibilities allows for a wide variety of different goods to be brought to the Trading Post and players can expect the unexpected in each month’s new catalogue!

How It Works

To obtain these unique cosmetic items, you will need to acquire a new account-wide currency called “Trader’s Tender.” This can be earned in two ways:

  • Automatically each month: Just by logging in and heading to the Trading Post, you can collect 500 Trader’s Tender every month from a chest called the Collector’s Cache.
  • By completing monthly activities in the Traveler’s Log: A monthly set of activities provides the opportunity to earn up to 500 additional Trader’s Tender.

We’ll be iterating on this new feature as we test on the PTR. The final Trader’s Tender amounts are subject to change.

Get Tender Every Month

At the first of each month, players with an active account in good standing will receive a set amount of Trader’s Tender automatically. If you don’t have active game time on your account or aren’t a subscriber at the start of a new month, don’t worry. Your Tender will be awarded the first day of the month when you do have game time or an active subscription. This will be the same amount for everyone, regardless of how you pay for your game time.

The Traveler’s Log

The second way to earn Trader’s Tender is to complete monthly activities listed in the new Traveler’s Log. Each month features a rotating, themed set of activities. There’s only a set amount of Tender you can earn each month through completing activities, so you won’t need to complete all the ones in the log each month. You’ll be able to pick and choose from a variety of fun in-game activities to easily earn Tender. Players can choose to earn by continuing to play the game as they already do such as completing quests, competing in battlegrounds, taking part in holiday activities, and even running Mythic+ dungeons. But you can also choose to take part in activities uniquely designed for the month.

You’ll be able to view these activities and your progress in the Adventure Guide (Shift-J) in the new Traveler’s Log. A bar at the top of the User Interface (UI) will show your progress in earning Trader’s Tender each. At certain thresholds, Trader’s Tender will be deposited into your Collector’s Cache for pickup. Additional Trader’s Tender is also obtained by filling the bar, but that’s not all…

Monthly Rotation

On the first of the month, the traders will obtain new items and update the activities in the Traveler’s Log for the new month. Items that are rotated out of their inventory won’t be gone for good though—they’ll rotate back into the inventory in future months—giving players who missed them the first time another opportunity to add them to their collections. The Trading Post will also include cosmetics from promotions that are no longer available as well as items normally available for cash purchase on the in-game store as purchasable items with Trader’s Tender instead. This provides an alternative way for players to obtain these items.

Getting a Glimpse of the Future

This is just the start of what we hope will be a rewarding new system for players to further personalize their character and their experiences within World of Warcraft. We’ll be looking toward additional opportunities to provide the community with even more ways to add to their collections and express themselves everywhere they go in Azeroth.

Keep an eye on the upcoming PTR where you’ll get a chance to try the new feature for yourself. We look forward to hearing your feedback as we continue to develop this new feature.

*The Trading Post feature is not available in WoW Classic titles.

They've literally said they want to do housing, but that is years of coding. It is not just something they can do in a whim.

Why is it a bad thing? Rewarding players with cosmetics for doing things in game with a small amount for logging in each month. When Blizzard gives things away with out of game promotions people always cry that it should be earned in-game. When blizzard implements a way to earn things in-game people are again crying.

Why do these people constantly follow and hate on WoW? Just move on and finding something less negative to enjoy.

Free rewards for players to earn every month with no cost, even allowing you to earn store mounts for free?
How is this stooping to new lows, and disgusting greed, this is FREE.
    like how in the hell?
this is a hilariously tragic post, unless you are just genuinely dumb and didn't read the post.

If the only way to get tokens is to be subbed and to do in-game activities- more than fine addition if you ask me.

If they ask you to pay for skip steps- a much less than fine addition.

Devil's in the details with those things. Wait and see. It's definitely going to be FOMO tho, the rewards will 100% cycle in and out.

They did exactly same thing when removed some pets from the store and added '*' with info that they can return.

Yes - this part is really good.
If you are not playing for an entire month, even though you are subbed, then what do you care about cosmetics in a game you arnt playing?

of course i fucking will, this is an amazing addition, play the game, get free shit, some of it new things, some of it things previously you had to pay for.
I don't even need to defend it, cause there is nothing that needs defending.

There is no fomo though, any items you miss you can just buy when they come back in a couple months, and if you dont have enough currency for an item you want this month, you can freeze it, to keep it in stock for as long as you want, so when you get enough currency you can buy it.

See while I would be super dissapointed and angry if they added it, overall it would be fine, cause there would still atleast be the free way for people to earn them.
but yeah if they add a way to buy them i could totally see "you get 1500 free a month, but 10,000 for 50$, everything's prices have been increased by 10x"

If you dont have enough to afford an item freeze it so you can buy it when you can afford it.

Of course this is the intent. It's a new opportunity to monetise the game. They'll be watching closely to see what the community reaction is. If it's not too bad they'll go ahead and let you buy Trader's Tokens with cash, or convert the current tokens into the new ones.

Eh, I'm fine with this. Especially if it's items that just come from RNG 'no-skill' drops, in which case I think this is actually a good thing. In fact, the more I think about it, I really like this regardless.

I generally don't play games, that have to bait me into playing them by having actions such as "log in each day and you will get a reward!"

But I enjoy playing DF so far. Hence why I am sad, that this f2p game model gets introduced in WoW.

Considering the state the system is an alternative for real money only items I doubt they will monetize this. They may expand the offerings in the cash shop but it is silly to call this a "new" way to monetize the game when they have been selling cosmetics, pets, and mounts for years.

Also people realize you can lock an item in if you won't get the resources to buy it that month right? It is literally in one of the screen shots. Like I guess if you wanted 5-6 things that could suck, but if there is 1-2 items you wanted, you can easily buy one and lock the other till you can buy it.

I like it conceptually, really want to see what they add to the trading post. Hope they have some of the TCG pets added, can't be bothered to spend 200,000g on the ones I don't have.

But you still log in every day? Just don't go click on the free prize they got. You can even freeze an item in the rotating list so it wont disappear for you until you hove your ass over there to click the free loot box to get the currency to pay for it. Y'all act like its a bad thing but all i hear is "CORRUPTED ASHBRINGER IS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS"

also we know this is just a repurposed battle pass right? like i get the idea it realy worked early on in keeping people active but once you have EVERY game that has one people are going to tune out eventually and it will end up dropping engagement like we seen with sub services such as netflix dropping hard once competition started splitting users alot
