You’ll be able to experience this new feature soon on the PTR.

Shop at the Trader’s Corner

A new set of traders will be moving their wares into the capital cities of Stormwind and Orgrimmar—T&W (Tawny and Wilder) and Zen’shiri Trading Posts. You’ll find T&W just outside of the Mage District in Stormwind and the Zen’shiri Trading Post next to Grommash Hold in Orgrimmar. Our trader friends have pulled out all the stops and have set up their shop so you can view the new items of the month prominently on display right at their shop. They’ll have transmogs on mannequins, pets at their feet, and mounts secured in their stable. Speak to the traders to see this month’s wares.

A Home for Creative Cosmetics

There are a multitude of interesting transmog, pet, and mount possibilities in Azeroth, limited only by imagination. The Trading Post will serve as a home for many more items from across Azeroth— and beyond—and is not limited by the current game content. You can expect to see a variety of fun new items to add to your collection.

Opening the possibilities allows for a wide variety of different goods to be brought to the Trading Post and players can expect the unexpected in each month’s new catalogue!

How It Works

To obtain these unique cosmetic items, you will need to acquire a new account-wide currency called “Trader’s Tender.” This can be earned in two ways:

  • Automatically each month: Just by logging in and heading to the Trading Post, you can collect 500 Trader’s Tender every month from a chest called the Collector’s Cache.
  • By completing monthly activities in the Traveler’s Log: A monthly set of activities provides the opportunity to earn up to 500 additional Trader’s Tender.

We’ll be iterating on this new feature as we test on the PTR. The final Trader’s Tender amounts are subject to change.

Get Tender Every Month

At the first of each month, players with an active account in good standing will receive a set amount of Trader’s Tender automatically. If you don’t have active game time on your account or aren’t a subscriber at the start of a new month, don’t worry. Your Tender will be awarded the first day of the month when you do have game time or an active subscription. This will be the same amount for everyone, regardless of how you pay for your game time.

The Traveler’s Log

The second way to earn Trader’s Tender is to complete monthly activities listed in the new Traveler’s Log. Each month features a rotating, themed set of activities. There’s only a set amount of Tender you can earn each month through completing activities, so you won’t need to complete all the ones in the log each month. You’ll be able to pick and choose from a variety of fun in-game activities to easily earn Tender. Players can choose to earn by continuing to play the game as they already do such as completing quests, competing in battlegrounds, taking part in holiday activities, and even running Mythic+ dungeons. But you can also choose to take part in activities uniquely designed for the month.

You’ll be able to view these activities and your progress in the Adventure Guide (Shift-J) in the new Traveler’s Log. A bar at the top of the User Interface (UI) will show your progress in earning Trader’s Tender each. At certain thresholds, Trader’s Tender will be deposited into your Collector’s Cache for pickup. Additional Trader’s Tender is also obtained by filling the bar, but that’s not all…

Monthly Rotation

On the first of the month, the traders will obtain new items and update the activities in the Traveler’s Log for the new month. Items that are rotated out of their inventory won’t be gone for good though—they’ll rotate back into the inventory in future months—giving players who missed them the first time another opportunity to add them to their collections. The Trading Post will also include cosmetics from promotions that are no longer available as well as items normally available for cash purchase on the in-game store as purchasable items with Trader’s Tender instead. This provides an alternative way for players to obtain these items.

Getting a Glimpse of the Future

This is just the start of what we hope will be a rewarding new system for players to further personalize their character and their experiences within World of Warcraft. We’ll be looking toward additional opportunities to provide the community with even more ways to add to their collections and express themselves everywhere they go in Azeroth.

Keep an eye on the upcoming PTR where you’ll get a chance to try the new feature for yourself. We look forward to hearing your feedback as we continue to develop this new feature.

Everything the game does is to retain subscriptions. That is how Blizzard makes their money. Every expansion they can get 4x the box price, over 2 years, for offering no where near to the same amount of content as the "the box". A system that gives people who stay subscribed benefits is not who is being targeted? Lol. If you like the system on paper there is no need to make up bs theories on why it is bad.

It doesn't do any good to fantasizes about fine print and how bad the system can be until there is indication that it could go that way. All you are doing is indicating you have a desire to hate on things when there is no good reason to do so.

Ok, but they completely ignore the important question of whether or not players will be able to save 'em up or this just yet another temporary currency reward to keep track of..

Oh, strike that, enough currency left over to make you feel like you need to invest another month into the system or else you "wasted" that 100 rupees, just like every other system that's designed to nudge you into continuing paying. I doubt anything in the system that costs 100 rupees is worth getting, if there even is anything at that price.

But my point is that one mount is stingy, especially per month. With the SWTOR battlepass I'll get about 40-50 different things during that time, including mounts, armor, weapons, dyes, rep items, crafting materials etc ... And not just garbage, good things. In Fortnite I'll get about 40-50 different things as well, including multiple skins, wraps, gliders, emotes, etc ... And all of it in both of those games will be high quality, worthwhile items.

Maybe you need to step outside of the WoW-osphere and see how things work in the rest of the world. I won't lie, reading everything you post comes across as someone who is incredibly gaslit by Blizzard and can't separate themselves from the company/game and takes any criticism far too personally.
For just logging in twice in two months, you get a mount.

Fortnite doesn't come close to that.
And don't even say it's 40-50 "high quality" things.
There's plenty of useless/dumb sprays and most the wraps look like they took 5 seconds of work.

I personally disagree with this notion. I think everything should be obtainable by everyone. This is a video game. There should be a way to get the content in the video game. I don't care if it was won via a raffle or some random chance occurrence. Spectral Tiger should be available for all - albeit rarely. Rarity should be accounted for in this system, one could hope.

If they don't go away then the customer doesn't have an incentive to stay subscribed.

    Exactly.
If Blizzard would offer the same to those that just subscribe for the launch and for those that stay subscribed for the whole expac then they would be bad businessmen.

Personally I don't give a rat's ass, as cosmetic stuff doesn't interest me, but Blizzard is a business and making money is what they do.

From other posts ITT, it doesn't decay, so players will be able to save them.

That's the thing: The fact that it's being done to retain subs means it's entirely possible that they'll sneak in some nonsense in order to make the pot more compelling. Does this necessarily mean they will? No. Does it mean it's entirely out of the question? Also no, unless explicitly stated otherwise. When I say I like it on paper, I'm running under the presumption that there won't be some sort of asterisk that has yet to be revealed. I could very well be completely wrong on the matter, and will end up being all sunshine and rainbows. But as previously mentioned, time will largely tell. The fact that one item out of a pot can be frozen is a good sign, at least.

I have/had them too. The phoenixes, one CM set, some mage tower artifact skins, Tyrael's Charger, etc.

I hope they bring it all back, mainly because I don't care about the items and the seethe it will summon forth will be entertaining.

It is also possible that they don't. Blizzard could do anything they want with the system. That doesn't mean the system is bad because of what they could do. The system needs to be judged based on what they actually do. It is also silly to say you are running under the presumption an asterisk does not exist when that is what you keep suggesting in the discussion. That one likely exists because of x,y,z.

    Correct.

Blizzard could do anything they want with the system.
Which is precisely why I, and some others, are speculating what negative outcomes could potentially result from it. Though I can only speak for myself when I say it doesn't necessarily guarantee that they'll come to pass.

Correct, and same can be said for the systems of the past few expansions, which have had mixed results, at the very least.

My own skepticism in the best possible outcome is a result of the recent histories of systems-on-paper versus systems-in-practice.

You can already see the prices right now, and it's far from stingy.
In a month you can get 1000. And the celestial steed costs 900. So you can buy a mount and still have stuff left over

You don't, did you not read the post? There will be a wide variety of things you can do. And that way you can choose what you want, you won't be forced to do any one thing.

Ah yes, as if adding garrisons alone didn't almost break the game.

But sure, you totally know better than Blizzard and anyone else who disagrees is wrong.

It doesn't matter either way. It's not like you're going to get enough coins to get everything in a month it seems, depending on the item type. It also shows you can lock an item for the future, so anything you don't want to go away you can presumably hold month to month.
