Magmashell Mount Location Discovered
The mystery of the Magmashell snail mount has finally been solved. Here are the simple steps to claim one of the variety of lava snails available in the Dragon Isles.



Step One
  • First you will need to obtain an Empty Magma Shell. This item is a rare drop from the tiny Lavaslurper creatures found along the lava river running south of the Obsidian Sanctum at around the coordinates 22,71.

  • If you want to save time, you can actually purchase the Empty Magma Shell on the Auction House. At the time of writing this, the item doesn't cost above 10,000 gold.



Step Two
  • Once you have this item, you need to take it to the Empowered Snail NPC located in the Northeastern section of the Waking Shores underneath a lava pool in the mountains at coordinates 71, 25. It might take some time to respawn if it has been interacted with recently.

  • There will be a bubbling pool of magma that you must swim under to see the NPC. It will be interactable, and all you must do now is interact with it to start a 16 second channel and survive the lava damage long enough to obtain the mount. This is easily accomplished for certain classes that can negate damage or prehot themselves before the channel.
    • If you find it hard to survive the damage, the Everlasting Horn of Lavaswimming toy will make you take none provided you have obtained it. This can be acquired in the Siege of Dragonbane Keep strongboxes.
  • Once the channel completes, the Magmashell mount will automatically be added to your collection.

    Easiest way to grab this is have a healer friend spam heal you. I healed my lv 70 friend on a lv 60 ezpz.

    Managed to get this literally last second as a holy paladin solo. Pop wings > consec heal > hammer > pray

    Took like 10 mins for it to spawn, i just used my evoker and loaded up on delay damage buffs and worked perfectly :P

    Whats the difference between the Magmashell and the Scrappy Worldsnail that you can get by farming Magmotes?

    I must be too high because I feel like I only notice the SMALLEST of difference between the two. Magma being more orange in the eyes/body and Worldsnail being more yellow.

    The npc must not always be up, I went resto and swam around under the lava for 10 minutes.

    IT has a ~25 minute respawn timer.


    Anyway, hunter for the win as I popped Aspect of the Turtle, swam down, got it and took no damage until swimming back to the top. Hit Exhilaration on my way out and get out with plenty of health to spare. Ally Evoker tried to jump in front of me, but he wasn't smart enough to have a target macro as he kept jumping in to see if it spawned. So, I just quietly hit my keybind and 30 seconds or so after the last time he jumped out it spawned. I immediately jumped down and claimed it as he sat there wondering what happened. Truly a LOL moment.

    30k on my realm.

    EDIT: Hour and a half after I bought mine, the market got flooded and now down to 13K. We are talking hundreds of shells. Of course the clown that put one up there for gold cap is looking really stupid. LOL
    I see about 280 listed which really isn't all that many. Is the AH for the entire region now? Can't recall.

    Got it for 7k gold 30 minutes ago. Got the mount quickly cause the shell was there. Pala tank with bubble helps hehe.

    Bought a shell for about 9.5k. Had to wait a while for the NPC to spawn but I love this mount!

    dont bother farming the lavaslurpers unless the event has concluded to capture the place, so all the tough mobs are despawned and you can quickly move around farming.
